The hallmark of this series lies in its unparalleled freedom. Even if you ignore both the main and side missions, you can spend months or even years immersed in its open world, doing whatever you please. The only limit is your imagination.
"Hmm, it's doable. In my previous life, Rockstar faced numerous limitations that left many features incomplete. But I don't have those restrictions. I've got the technology and the money—I can definitely surpass GTA V from back then!"
Han Yu grew increasingly excited. GTA V had always ranked among the top-selling games. Even years after its release, it consistently appeared near the top of annual sales charts due to its high level of freedom, with crime becoming a routine activity in the game.
As a result, the game's main city, Los Santos, earned the affectionate nickname "The Peaceful City of Los Santos," an ironic twist on the term peaceful city.
Eagerly logging out of his current game, Han Yu scrolled through the games stored on his phone. Sure enough, GTA V was listed among them. In his past life, this game had never been adapted for mobile platforms.
Curious, he tapped the game's icon, only for a pop-up window to appear:
"This is a PC-based game. To play, you must spend 10 upgrade points to unlock it."
The message left Han Yu wide-eyed and dumbfounded. Seriously? Ten upgrade points for just one game? I only have 28 points right now, and this will cost me a third of them. Might as well just rob me!
"Ugh, whatever. Early death, late death—it's all the same. Unlock it!"
Gritting his teeth, Han Yu chose to redeem the game. Complaining wouldn't reduce the cost, so he figured he might as well go through with it.
Ding!"You've unlocked a new game. The GTA V development files have been sent to your inbox. Please check your email."
A red notification dot appeared over his phone's email app. Han Yu opened the email but closed it just as quickly—the overwhelming amount of data and complex code gave him a headache. He immediately forwarded the files to Ultron, explaining the features he wanted enhanced and hoping Ultron could handle it.
Initially, Han Yu had planned to ask Stark for help, but why bother? With a hyper-intelligent robot like Ultron at his disposal, there was no need for Stark.
Relaxing back onto his bed, Han Yu started daydreaming about the possibilities for the revamped GTA game. Just as his pleasant thoughts were taking shape, his door burst open with a loud bang. Ultron stormed in, brimming with excitement, and grabbed Han Yu by the shoulders.
"Boss, where did you get this game file? You want me to make it? This game is absolutely incredible! Compared to this, every other game in the country looks like trash!"
Brushing off Ultron's overly enthusiastic grip, Han Yu couldn't help but feel like the robot was about to plant a kiss on him. Sitting up, he patted Ultron's shoulder and said, "Yes, I want you to create this game. But make sure it doesn't interfere with the mutant memory search program."
"That program? I finished it ages ago."
As Ultron spoke, he quickly assembled a USB drive from some of his components and handed it to Han Yu.
"Regular computers can't handle this kind of computational load. I'd guess only Stark's private satellites or S.H.I.E.L.D.'s surveillance system could manage it. Take your time figuring it out, Boss. I'm off to work on the game! Don't worry—I'll pour all my effort into it. I'm already looking forward to the day it goes live!"
Without waiting for a reply, Ultron dashed off, muttering excitedly to himself. Moments later, Han Yu overheard him bumping into Pietro. The two exchanged a few words before running off together. What a pair of gaming addicts. The game isn't even ready yet, and they're already hooked.
The next morning, Han Yu, still groggy from sleep, was dragged out of bed by Ultron and Pietro, both bursting with energy. They hoisted him up and hauled him toward the workshop without giving him a chance to protest.
"What are you doing? I was sleeping!"
Rubbing his eyes, Han Yu grumbled in annoyance.
"Boss, look!"
Ultron pointed to the computer screen in front of Han Yu.
On the screen, a small character was running around. After running for a bit, the character started punching random pedestrians, and after that, it hijacked a car and drove off.
Han Yu's eyes lit up at the sight and asked, "You already made it?"
The screen was clearly showcasing a scene from the GTA game. Had Ultron actually completed it in just one night? That seemed impossible. Even with his advanced capabilities, such an enormous and intricate game would still take at least a week to complete flawlessly.
Scratching his head, Ultron replied, "No, Boss, this is just a concept demo. I made it to show you a rough idea of what it might look like. If this matches your vision, I'll move forward with the full version."
After trying it out, Han Yu realized the demo was very basic. The character could only run, walk, throw punches, and drive cars. The map was minuscule—barely one percent the size of the original game.
"Not bad," Han Yu said. "Let's proceed with this direction. Pay extra attention to the key features I highlighted earlier. Quality over speed—I don't care how long it takes, but it must be polished. And don't worry about the budget; spend whatever you need. Got it?"
Initially, Han Yu had considered creating multiple games, such as a battle royale or a classic bomb-defusal game. But after a second thought, why complicate things and dilute his audience?
Thankfully, the GTA series could incorporate all these elements seamlessly. Money wasn't an issue either. The original GTA V reportedly cost $200 million to develop. Han Yu wouldn't bat an eye at spending $2 billion on this project if needed.
With over a billion dollars in savings, spending $2 billion on a game was merely a drop in the ocean for him. After all, a single energy device he sold could fetch several hundred million dollars—why would he care about the costs here?
Grinning, Ultron said, "Heh heh, Boss, if you put it that way, I won't hold back. I'll make sure the servers are built with the absolute best hardware available."
Han Yu laughed heartily and waved his hand dismissively. "Go all out!"
The three of them couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement as they imagined the game's eventual release. They could already foresee the global frenzy it would cause.
As the thought settled in, one of them began laughing out loud. Instead of teasing him, the other two joined in, and soon all three were standing there in the workshop, hands on their hips, laughing uncontrollably.
From the doorway, Wanda watched the scene unfold with a bemused expression. Seeing the three of them standing in a triangle, laughing like fools, she couldn't help but mutter under her breath, "Are they a trio of idiots?"
