"Mr. Robertson asked me to help you in any way possible." In the descending elevator, Dr. Susan turned her head to look at Spencer and spoke.
"Is that so? Great!" Spencer replied with a slight smile.
"I've reviewed Dr. Lanning's psychological profile. Alfred has become reclusive, refusing contact with both humans and robots," Susan said to herself, completely ignoring Spencer's previous words as if they were air.
"You're a psychologist?" Spencer asked again, this time knowingly, even though Susan had already told him at the elevator entrance.
"My ex-wife would be thrilled to know I'm having a conversation with you. You don't know her, do you?" Spencer made a small jest, but Dr. Susan's expression turned dark.
"I'm sorry, are you joking?" It was a serious investigation, and Susan couldn't believe Spencer would make jokes at a time like this.
"No, not at all!" Spencer said casually, still oblivious to Susan's expression. At that moment, the elevator reached the 10th floor. Dr. Lanning, the creator of the artificial intelligence Wiki and the NS series robots, had developed them in this very laboratory, and it was also where he had ultimately jumped off. Susan didn't dwell on Spencer's foolish behavior just now because it was part of the job, and she couldn't afford to bicker with Spencer over trivial matters.
"Do you think Dr. Lanning had a tendency towards suicide?" Spencer slightly redirected the conversation to the main topic.
"I believe the answer is quite obvious," Susan coldly replied while walking. Susan said all those words to make Spencer believe that Dr. Lanning had committed suicide, but it was clear that she was playing a tune for a cow.
"That's not the question I asked you," Spencer persisted.
"Well, originally, I didn't think so. But clearly, I was wrong," Susan awkwardly stated, indicating that she had come to believe that Dr. Lanning had indeed taken his own life.
Spencer suddenly whistled and walked to the railing, looking down. "It's quite a drop from here! You guys cleaned up pretty quickly. I don't blame you, who would want an old man to die in the lobby?"
"He's not just any 'old man,' Alfred Lanning is everything here," Susan said, anger building up as she looked at Spencer's flippant tone. "We're about to launch the largest robot marketing event in history. By Saturday, every 5 households will have a robot. These robots are the realization of a dream, Dr. Lanning's dream," Susan continued, trying to calm her anger.
"Do you know what? In his dreams, I bet he didn't jump off," Spencer's words left Susan speechless this time, realizing that everything she had said was in vain.
"Do you have round-the-clock surveillance here?" Spencer continued to push Susan's buttons, daringly.
"Of course, it's company policy," Susan replied, annoyed.
"Security cameras?" Spencer asked.
"No, motion sensors. They're installed everywhere except the maintenance areas. They're all connected to the central computer," Susan answered.
At this moment, Tang Tian, who had already formed a partnership with Robertson, looked at the AI brain on the top floor with a greedy expression. That so-called central computer was the host for Wiki. Robertson didn't say anything about Tang Tian's expression this time, knowing that he might need Tang Tian's help if his predicted events came to pass. As Tang Tian's partner in this endeavor, Robertson had also given him a weakened version of the superhuman serum, giving him a small incentive. After all, even though Tang Tian claimed to be an extraterrestrial, cooperation wouldn't be pleasant if he couldn't provide valuable items.
"The central computer is Dr. Lanning's first creation, a virtual interactive intelligent system," Susan explained, pointing to the blue light at the corner while accompanied by Spencer.
As the story goes, Wiki concealed itself well, and Spencer and the others didn't notice any flaws. They then arrived at Dr. Lanning's private laboratory, and the plot continued to unfold.
"Do you see that? That's Dr. Lanning's ultimate creation—Sonny, with emotions just like a human," Tang Tian said, looking down at the silver robot running swiftly below the headquarters of USR, hinting at Robertson's hidden intention.
Robertson was astonished as he watched the robot sprinting, realizing that it was no ordinary machine. Ordinarily, a robot would follow human commands, but this robot's appearance was clearly extraordinary.
"Since you know him, what do you need me to do?" Robertson asked, puzzled, as he watched Tang Tian drinking red wine.
"Indeed, Spencer suspects Sonny killed Dr. Lanning, but as I've already told you, what you need to do is define the case as an industrial accident," Tang Tian explained in detail.
"No problem, I would have done the same even if you didn't mention it. We can't afford any unsafe news with the NS-5 launch," Robertson nodded in agreement.
"Very well, by Saturday, you will understand that neither artificial intelligence nor robots are something you can control without absolute power and laws," Tang Tian said with a meaningful tone.
"Okay, I understand," Robertson replied.
The betrayal of Wiki began when Spencer discovered a robot named Sonny, whom he believed was the "culprit" ordered to kill Dr. Lanning. During the pursuit, he not only discovered that Sonny had the ability to think for himself but also possessed emotions remarkably similar to humans.
During the interrogation, Sonny told Spencer that he didn't kill Dr. Lanning but was helping him with something. The message conveyed to Robertson was to classify the incident as an "industrial accident" and bring Sonny back to the company under that pretext. This way, the extraterrestrials could retrieve him.
Of course, as Spencer delved deeper into the investigation, Wiki would dispatch numerous NS-5 robots to hunt him down and eliminate him. Meanwhile, Susan would go to Spencer's home and inform him that during the examination of Sonny, they discovered that he not only surpassed the old models but could also act without being bound by the "Three Laws of Robotics." And, of course, the extraterrestrials had prepared the final preparations, the bioweapons. Although there were many NS-5 robots, there were also plenty of bioweapons.
This world would soon obtain what it desired, followed by the plundering of other dimensions.
