When the Nazi soldiers in the Jewish concentration camp discovered Erik's special abilities, they brought him and his mother to Sebastian Shaw's office in a nearby camp. Little did they know that today marked the rise of the Brotherhood of Mutants, led by the mutant leader, Magneto. Wesker's mission was to directly enter the camp and find the target. If he could obtain the Black Emperor's genes, it would be even better, but rescuing the target's mother was also part of the mission.
The Nazi soldiers didn't dare to stop them. Umbrella Corporation held significant privileges in Germany as well. As a strategic supplier of war materials and weaponry for Nazi Germany during World War II, after receiving a $500 million loan from Umbrella Corporation, the elder Hitler waved his hand, granting all Umbrella employees the privilege to enter any place except military bases freely. So, when Wesker entered the concentration camp, nobody dared to question or provide information they knew.
On the other side, Erik, who had regained consciousness, nervously surveyed his surroundings, his eyes fixated on the person who had temporarily released him. Erik understood that his life and his mother's life were in the hands of this person in front of him. As a weak individual, Erik knew better than to speak out, as those in power usually had the privilege to ask questions first. Such was the sorrow of the weak.
Sebastian Shaw was pleased with Erik's behavior. As a fellow mutant, he always appreciated mutants with potential. In the early days, mutants were scarce before the invention of nuclear weapons. Each mutant was a precious power. The radiation caused by the invention of nuclear weapons in the future accelerated the emergence of mutants. That's why Sebastian Shaw didn't hesitate to provoke a world war during the Cold War era. All of it was for his and the mutants' future.
When Albert Wesker arrived at the concentration camp, the Nazi soldiers had already informed Shaw. They couldn't understand why a global super conglomerate figure had come to this place. However, Shaw didn't say anything. He opened classical music, walked up to Erik, and stood before him.
"Do you understand this, Erik... I'm not like these Nazis," Shaw said casually as he opened the package of chocolates on his desk.
"Genes are the key, right? But their objective is blue eyes? Blond hair? They're truly sick," Shaw said, taking a bite of chocolate and pushing the remaining pieces toward Erik, speaking kindly, "Have some chocolate."
Erik, who hadn't eaten well for several days, looked at the tempting chocolate in front of him. He swallowed hard, thinking of his mother who hadn't seen it yet. Instantly, his hunger vanished, replaced by a resolute statement, "I want to see my mother."
"Genes are the key to unlocking the realm of gods, Erik. The new future of mankind—evolution," Shaw said, enthralled and obsessed, much like the Red Skull, filled with a thirst for immense power. "Do you understand what I'm saying, Erik? I'm asking you to do something simple. A small coin compared to a door, isn't it?"
Shaw's intentions were clear, and Erik understood his purpose: to make him move the coin as effortlessly as he had opened the iron gate earlier. "I've tried, Doctor. I can't... I won't... It's impossible," Erik said helplessly. Perhaps each mutant had a different way of unlocking their abilities. Just as Charles could manifest his powers from a young age, Erik's way of unlocking his abilities was extreme anger, much like activating the Sharingan.
Shaw looked at Erik's failed attempt with a sense of resignation. However, recalling Erik's anger that had unleashed his abilities when he was separated from his mother, Shaw had prepared an alternative plan. He rang the bell on the table, and Erik's mother was unexpectedly brought into the room by two Nazi soldiers. Erik was overjoyed to see his mother, but he quickly regained his composure, realizing that his failure to meet Shaw's expectations meant that his mother being here was definitely not a good thing.
Indeed, unlike before, there wasn't much time to move the coin. They had only three seconds. Success meant his mother's life would be spared, but failure meant her death. Time truly equated to life in this situation, and three seconds might be the decisive three seconds that could change the future.
Lady Luck was not on Erik's mother's side. He only heard the sound of gunshots and the thud of an object falling. Something in Erik's heart shattered, and boundless anger surged within him. An invisible magnetic field emanated from him, causing numerous metallic objects in the surroundings to deform.
Seeing Erik's success, Shaw smiled slightly, knowing that his objective had been achieved. However, his expression remained serious. The moment his bullet was fired, it was indeed aimed at Erik's mother, but it was intercepted midway by a dark figure. Instead of Erik's mother, it was the two Nazi soldiers who fell. Shaw considered the possibility that only someone dropped from a plane by Umbrella Corporation, as witnessed earlier, could possess such strength and survive unscathed from a thirty-meter fall. Based on intelligence gathered through the Nazi information system, Shaw was also aware of the involvement of Captain America's conspirator, Umbrella Corporation. The principle "only the wary welcome the wary" crossed Shaw's mind. The arrival of Umbrella Corporation personnel to this place was definitely not a good sign.
Although Shaw was somewhat concerned about Umbrella Corporation's motives this time, he also had his pride. As a mutant, and a powerful one capable of absorbing any form of energy, Sebastian Shaw had his own arrogance. Even though Umbrella Corporation was considered one of the most powerful entities in the world, Shaw had no fear.
"Come out. You've been lurking here for a long time, so you should have shown yourself by now. Who are you, and what is your objective?" Shaw's expression turned cold and serious as Erik released his anger.
"Heh, you found me, huh?" At this moment, a man wearing a black trench coat with the Umbrella Corporation logo on his chest appeared at the door. He smiled coldly, wearing sunglasses.
"You can call me Wesker. My objective is simple: your blood, the blood of that child, and the child's mother," Wesker spoke in a perpetually straightforward manner, without any wasted words.
"Wesker? Albert Wesker, personal bodyguard of Terra Donnas, the chairman of Umbrella Corporation," Shaw said thoughtfully.
Before Erik could react, Wesker knocked him unconscious. After all, this child was also a part of their future plans, and obtaining Erik's genes was part of the mission. Wesker took out a syringe and extracted 100 milliliters of Erik's blood. Once finished, he placed it in a specially designed insulated box made by Umbrella Corporation. In the future, his genes would have even more uses.
"Alright, you're next. Let the battle I've been anticipating begin," Wesker said with a cold smirk, paying no attention to the unconscious Erik. The battle was about to commence.
