The Kiss Argument

Lola's mouth was slightly opened as she stared at Max as if he was a crazy human being. She couldn't understand exactly how a man with so much money still acts immaturely. Shouldn't billionaires have some level of maturity and poise manners?

"What kissing practice? Why do we need to practice kissing? We are both not kids. We are also not virgins. So what's the practice for?" Lola inquired, feeling frustrated as is. Just the dawn of her new life was weighing heavily on her soul. Becoming the wife of the man she had vowed to always hate. It was going to be hard.

No, it was going to be very hard. It will be difficult having to do some things with him. She wished things could have been different. She wished life just had an ounce of mercy on her and her brother. She wished things didn't turn out this way. She wished life didn't have to force her to go to the man she wanted to have nothing to do with for help. She really wished.

But wishes are only granted in fairy tales.

And dreams are only for dreamers. Those who could actually afford a good night's sleep without worrying about the surmountable bills and debts that kept piling up and choking them. Those who dream are blessed with the luxury of a life without many problems that do nothing but sink one.

And sadly, she wasn't one of them. One of the dreamers. So she knew her wishes and dreams can't be granted.

Because if they were granted, she would never have accepted Max Donovan's marriage proposal.

Max chuckled, pushing a strand of her hair out of her face. "Lola, I refuse to let you cause me problems on our wedding day because you don't want to kiss your high school ex." Max told her.

"Ex? We were no exes." Lola spat angrily, "I was just a freaking toy to you. I was nothing to you. I meant absolutely nothing to you. So do not call us ex, when I was never anything to you." She said in a stern voice.

How dare he call them exes? They never dated. She was the only one in love with him. He wasn't. So she was the only one who was in the relationship she thought was real.

"That's a lie. I wouldn't have slept with you if you didn't mean something to me. It just happened that I loved and still love fattening my bank account. It's not a 'you' problem, it's just what I love." Max said to her confidently like he had just said the best of words.

"You are actually not making any sense. If I had at least meant something to you, you would never have disgraced me in such a way." Lola replied, she hated thinking about the past, about that part of her young life when she was at her lowest, a part she didn't want to be remembering and reliving.

It was torture. She couldn't bear it. And so she wanted to stop talking about it. "Please, I don't want to hear anything about the past. I need the money now so I can go tend to my brother." She said to him, readying herself to leave his office.

Being in the same room as him was suffocating. She couldn't breathe well. So she wanted to leave as soon as possible, but first, he needed to keep the end of his own bargain of this contract.

He needed to fund her account. And she needed to go see James. She wasn't even sure how to break the news to him that she will be getting married the day after tomorrow.

"Ethan is already working on that. Now, let's practice kissing. That is the only way you'll be able to leave to go see your brother." Max answered her with an arrogant expression.

"What! Are you going to keep me here against my will?" Lola queried.

"Well, I wouldn't have to do that if you just comply with my demands. But I have the right to do whatever I like since you are already my bride the moment you sign those papers. But I won't be a wicked husband, Lola. So just do what I ask." Max answered her, smirking slightly at her.

And that expression on his face infuriated her.

"This is bull-sheet. It's ridiculous." Lola complained. She was experiencing the power of signing contracts.

"It's not ridiculous, Lola. I'm just being meticulous. And if there's anything I have noticed between us is that we share meticulous traits. I am only being careful to avoid embarrassments on my wedding day. I am only avoiding a humiliation a man of my status should avoid." Max explained, feeling the need to break it down to her level of understanding.

Even if, deep down, he wanted to have a taste of her. Because he was feeling their soul bond. He was feeling the enigmatic connection between them. He was feeling the magnetic pull that was unseen to the eyes but definitely felt deep within his soul. It was odd to him. He normally wouldn't care so much about her humiliating him by not kissing him properly, but now, he cares. There was just something that made him want every moment with his soulmate to be perfect.

So even if he has to enact his authority to get her to do some things, he would.

Lola sighed after hearing his explanation, but she still couldn't just agree to kiss Max out of the blue. It was too weird. And it wasn't something she wanted to really do.

So she said, "I understand your point. But I am not a baby, I would not embarrass you. I will kiss you like I truly mean it on our wedding day. So don't worry about it. I promise to impress you."

"No, impress me now. I don't want to take such a risk." Max deadpanned.

"How about after my visit to the hospital. I can't do that right now. I can't kiss you, Max." Lola proposed, expressing herself.

"You don't need to do the kissing. I will do it." Max said and grabbed her by the waist, pulling flush against his chest and his lips landed on top of hers, melding perfectly together.

Max breathed a sigh of relief into the kiss

But Lola…she groaned in annoyance.
