Chapter 3

Everything went back to the way it  was in the company, even though the general's son is back, things still move the way it was before.

     the little discussion Mr Ben and his son had did not  end that day. seeing  that his son did not  take his words to heart, he repeated it in his ear day in day  out.

      "Dad I don't know why you're pressuring me to get married? " kelvin asked his father one  afternoon in his office.

       " because I  want you to settle down " the old man obviously said.

       "Phew " kelvin signed as he palmed his face.

       " dad you know I'm not seeing any one at the moment and I don't  plan to "....

      "When I'm ready I would honestly go look for someone to marry"....

     the father and son  stared at each other before Mr Ben finally threw the  bombshell.

     "actually I wanted you to get married before taking over the company. that -"

       " what?!  "stunned kelvin stared at his father with his mouth hanging open in wonderment.

       his father overlook his expression and continued...

     "that way I won't worry about you lavising your money and time  on some nasty pests ". he spat

       "well dad ".. kelvin said as he put his hands  in his pocket  and strengthen his shirt, " I'm not settling down anytime soon, when I'm ready I would naturally do it without you forcing me ".

      he immediately left not giving  his father any chance to respond.

       "hai ".... Mr Ben signed as he sat down ans rub his head.

      "this boy doesn't seem to understand what I'm trying to say, I need to make him understand better ".   he abruptly stood up.

      "Stephen " he called his assistant..

     "take me home "

....

     Laughters could be heard from the kitchen as the two friends, Carole and Claire, huddled together watching the movie they were talking about during weekdays.  the movie was actually aired that Saturday morning.

     " gosh Carole... "Claire said after the movie ended.

      " if you were to see the comments people were making concerning this movie, I bet you wouldn't give a second thought "...

     " but you know me, I have a strong feelings for anything good ".  she beat her chest proudly.

     " silly girl ". her friend smiled, " how are and work in  the company ? "

          "I'm good...even though the general's son is back everything is still as it was before "

      "really "... her friend clapped

       "yes " Claire rolled her eyes, " I wonder what's getting you so wrecked  up "... she yawned covering her mouth.

      "nothing, just want you to be careful, I've  got a bad feelings for him "

     they looked at each other for some minutes before bursting into laughter.

         " why are you laughing? " Carole asked as she wiped the tear that drop from her eyes.

        "nothing.. ha.. ha.. nothing "..

    Back at the Morgan's house, Mr Ben continued to clarify the issues of marriage to his son hoping he would understand. they argued about it for  some time. seeing that his son stubbornly refused, he decided to used the hard way.

    clearing his throat he said....

      "Since you refused to listen to what I'm saying "...

       " in giving you two months -" he gestured with his hands, " two months to get married or else your sister would take over  "...

     shock and anger filled kelvin's face as gapped at his father.

     "Dad you can't do this " he choked.

      "oh yes I'm already doing it, two months is what I give you to find a lady, get to know her and settle  down. that's all I asked of you ". his father left him and went to his room.

     The following day, Mr Ben got a phone call from his daughter stating she's coming back that day due to some issues that need scoring at school, so she appealed  to him to let her brother come pick her up  from the airport.

    obviously he agreed, called his son and instructed him to go the airport and bring his sister. without further Ado kelvin took his car keys and left the house.

       "Hey "... Daisy Morgan who was the second child and only daughter of general Ben greeted her brother as she entered the car.

     "Hi ". he replied without much of an expression.

     Even though they were siblings, they never had that kind of sibling to sibling relationship unless it's an official interaction within the family.

     Of course even when they were growing while one was taught on  how to grow strong and inherit his father's business the other was taught on how to be a lady .

     So the siblings pretty much did  not get involved with each others life as siblings would do.

       "How's dad?" Daisy asked after getting comfortable on the seat.

     "he's fine " kelvin answered as he started the car and drove out.

     " I heard you would be  taking  over the company very soon "... he's sister stated rather than ask as she gave him a side glance.

     "huh uh " he mumbled, "but there's a condition attached to it " he revealed.

       "and what is it?" she was dumbfounded that their father would attached a condition to his legal right .

      "Marriage "

      The rest of  the journey was spent I'm silence as each was immersed in their own thought. the younger sister thought it was not actually a bad idea moreover he's not getting young anymore,  so their father must have a reason for saying he should get married before taking over the company.

       She took a glance at him to see his expression after mentioning the  condition but he remain as calm as ever .

     At last they reached home but as soon as daisy saw her father standing outside waiting for them, she jumped down from the car  and went into his arms.

      "Oh my angel " Mr Ben affectionately said as he hugged her like she would disappear.

      "Dad " daisy smiled, "I'm back now even though it's temporal.

         "Haiz " Mr Ben took her by the hand as he lead her inside

      " let's go inside  dear, you must be hungry and tired ".

   the trio went inside as kelvin tagged along quietly.

     Later that night kelvin sat on his  bed as he begin to reminisce on what his father has said , the condition attached to his inheritance. so he  decided to look for someone to marry, maybe someone from his father's company so that he wouldn't be bothered.

     "Yes, that's what he would do "  kelvin thought as he rest his back on the headboard and latched his hands behind his head.

     From the next day he would begin his search, yes... someone from a poor background that would not cling to him but only to his money and it  would be okay.

     With that thought kelvin closed his eyes.
