Chapter-20 Meditation & Change in Mind

I reached home and sat down with my legs crossed on the bed. Ever since my awakening, I could feel the mana around the surroundings. There was a lot of mana all around the place.

But according to the teachers, the mana concentration in the capital was a few times higher than in this place. There were also some special mana chambers in the city which could be rented for money. The mana concentration was more than five times that of the outside places.

The other places that had a rich amount of mana concentration were the wilderness where monsters roamed around and the place which had some kind of natural treasures in them. But I didn't have the time or money to go to any kind of chambers to try out.

I opened my status panel to check the technique. The system could hear my thoughts, so saying "status" in my head was enough for it to perform its functions.

After looking at the status panel, I asked the system how to perform the technique.

[ Host only needs to think about activating the technique. System will perform the technique and Host will be able to absorb mana without hindering his concentration ]

I was shocked once again after hearing the response from the system. I was getting a good feeling about my system day by day. In this way, I would not have to sit all the time and keep absorbing mana like those in novels.

But still, I closed my eyes and asked the system to activate the technique. Just as I mumbled, the blue screen appeared in front of my eyes in the darkness. I could see all the things written on it.

Just as the technique was activated, I felt something cold entering through my skin and spreading in all directions. The mana was being absorbed by my body. Just as I thought that my strength was going to increase, the system showed another notification,

All the mana which entered my body started to disappear in some place unknown to me. But according to the system, it was being converted into exp, so I will be able to raise my stats only after increasing my level. What a bummer! I thought in my head and decided to continue absorbing mana.

Five minutes later,

'How much exp have I gained so far?' I asked the system in my mind. I was absorbing mana for some time already. I hoped to get at least more than twenty exp by now. Just as I was thinking, the system replied to me,

[ Absorption Rate: 1 EXP / Hour ]

''What the hell?'', I shouted out loud and stood up from the bed after seeing the rate of mana absorption. I would gain one exp after one full hour. The rate was a bit too low than I expected.

''System, What's the reason for such a low absorption rate?'', I asked loudly. As I was at home, there was no need to communicate in my head all the time.

[ Host, there are two reasons for this slow progress,

Host has low talent which makes the body less attractive to surrounding mana and absorption process becomes slow.

The level of the Meditation Technique is very low which can only attract a small amount of mana from the surrounding ]

I read the explanation given by the system and felt it plausible. My talent was at the lowest of the lowest point while mana absorption technique was another problem for me. I would have to get either an Earth or sky level technique from the academy.

The other option was to get my hand on the spatial spells before going to hunt. I had already stopped the technique. I opened the status panel to check and the exp bar remained the same. I closed the panel and focused my mind back to reality.

At first, I was thinking about absorbing mana all day and then heading toward the capital on the next day but now I had changed my mind or rather the absorption rate had changed my mind completely.

I started to pack all my stuff and stored everything in the system's inventory. I closed the door and thought about what to do with the apartment. I had already stored everything that once belonged to me and my parents.

I wasn't going to come back to live here anymore as this was just the beginning of my journey. I was going to roam around the world after getting strong. I thought a bit and decided not to take away any furniture. I was going to gift this house to Jay.

Jay was going to stay in this city for one more year and will head toward the capital after he graduates from the school. I checked the money in my bank account. This world used the Digital currency, Magic Stones. These stones were not real but just digital. They had the same shape as that of mana stones.

I had barely enough money to book a ticket to the capital. I was going to stay in the dorms of capital or so I was hoping. There was only 500k in my account. I searched for the tickets to book for the capital. I only looked at the price and felt my chest hurting.

The increase in the size of earth obviously increased the size of the earth. The population had grown a few times more than what it was used to be 500 years ago. The distance between capital and my city was more than twenty thousand miles.

There were many ways to reach the capital like Buses, Train and airplane. The shortest time to reach capital was by traveling on the fastest airplane available. But it also cost a lot which made me hesitate. The ticket price was 400k and it will take me to capital in just 5 hours.

I pondered a little bit and decided to bite the bullet. I booked the ticket and soon got the confirmation message. The ticket was for the latest flight which was taking off after 3 hours. I locked the door and headed to the next floor. I met Uncle Ben who was alone at home. We talked for a bit and then I gave him the key to the door.

He blatantly refused to take it but I forced him to accept it after saying that I won't be able to return here any time soon. After some hesitation, he took the key and I got up to leave. Uncle Ben gave me a long hug and asked me to take care of myself.

I heavily nodded and only then he let me go. I came down and looked at the door of my apartment. I left the building after a few minutes and headed toward the airport in a taxi. Along the way, I saw many tall buildings that were made of all the sturdy materials.

All kinds of materials were changed due to Earth coming in contact with the mana. Iron had changed into magic iron and the same happened with other things. I had asked the driver to drive slowly as there was no need to hurry. I wanted to enjoy the last view of the city.

I reached near the airport after 20 minutes and got off from the taxi. I wanted to eat something before going toward. I went to a nearby hotel to eat. After doing all things, I reached the airport almost an hour later. There was still a bit over an hour and a half left for the plane to take off.

I reached on time and entered the plane after going through all the verifications. Luckily my seat was near the window. Soon the plane started to take off.
