Chapter-12 Checking System: Part 1

I looked at the floating screen and didn't know what to do. After pondering for a moment, I decided to call the system,

''System''

[ Waiting for Host's Command ]

I was surprised to read the words that appeared on the screen. It looked like the system had the capability to communicate with me. I pondered for a bit and decided to inquire about the questions that I had in my mind,

''System, Who is your creator?''

I waited for some time but there was no answer from the system this time. So, I decided to change my question,

''Why and How, I am able to acquire this system?''

Once again, I was only met with silence as there was no reply from the system again.

''What are the functions of the system?'', I asked the system and just as I thought that my question was in vain, the screen changed and another number of words appeared on it,

[ Main function of the Mage Leveling System is that it can help the Host in increasing the Mage Rank by gaining experience points. Host can gain experience points by killing Magical Beings, consuming treasures and absorbing mana from the surrounding. Host can open the system panel to see more functions ]

A lot of information was given by the system this time. The main function of the system was to increase my Mage Rank as long as I can gain exp. Just like in the novel, the best way to gain exp and level-up was to kill monsters and eat some heavenly fruits.

I could also absorb mana from the surrounding by using mana absorption technique which is availabe for free on the internet. But those techniques were of the lowest grade for everyone to start their Mage Paths. There are four known grades of the techniques and they were further divided into three different levels,

Mortal

Earth

Sky

Heaven

I would measly absorb mana based on my talent. Talent also increases the mana absorption speed even if you are using a mortal level technique.

''System Panel''

I mumbled once again after reading about the main function of the system. The screen changed again,

[ System Panel ]

[ Notifications ]

[ Status ]

[ Inventory ]

At the top of the blue screen, it was written system panel in Black color and there were three options shown below it in white color. They were Notifications, Status, and Inventory.

''Notifications''

I mumbled under the breath looking at the first option.

[ Ding ]

[ Magical Power Detected inside the Host's Body ]

[ System Activating ]

[ System Activation progress ]

[ The Activation progress 100% ]

[ Mage Leveling System Activation Successful ]

[ Binding System with Host Body ]

[ Mage Leveling System Is Ready To Be Used ]

[ Waiting for Host's command ]

Rows of information appeared on the screen, which had all the notifications that I received from the beginning but there was nothing present from which I could acquire any information of the entity who gave me the system.

I called out the System panel once again. Looking at three options,

I mumbled once again and decided to open the status panel,

Once again, A long list of information appeared in front of my eyes and all my details were shown on it in different brackets. When I read my name it gave me shock. My given surname was Norton but it was different in the System Panel.

''Void''

I mumbled my surname that was written in the status panel. I had never heard about any family having the name Void. I was confused and started thinking about all the information I knew about old Alex's family.

According to the information and documents present at his home, his parents were orphans who grew up in an orphanage that was run by the government in another city.

There are many orphanages in different parts of the country. They take care of the children till they reach the age of Awakening. This way all of them can work under the Govt regardless they are awakeners or non-awakeners.

Govt can gain Mages and increase their powerhouses. There had been many mages who were orphans in the past but now they are working as high-level Mages in Govt.

My parents failed during their awakening ceremony. They started working under Govt after coming to this city and got married after a few years. And they died in a car crash when I was 13 years old.

Norton was the name my father gave himself after marrying my mother. That was all the information, I had regarding my parents. I continued thinking about if I missed anything in this information but nothing came to my mind.

After racking my brain for some time, I shook my head with a deep sigh and cleared my mind from all these thoughts because I knew that I was not going to find the answer to my question any time soon.

Just as I was going to read the remaining information on my status panel, the noisy hall went into silence. The abrupt silence did not escape my notice even though I was in my own thinking world.

My head was down all the time, I lifted my head up and looked around. Everyone was staying silent and looking toward the stage. I also looked ahead and saw that the Principal was standing at the front on the edge of the stage facing us.

His expressions looked a bit better than the time when he first came to the hall with an expressionless face. I knew that the Principal was going to conclude the ceremony now.
