Chapter 18: Mr. Independent

Early in the morning, Ronin felt something soft on his chest.

"Anigimi, it is morning. Time to wake up." Ageha was lying down on his chest and he blinked.

"Where did you learn this?" He squinted his eyes and Ageha put a finger on her chin.

"Shoujo manga taught us that boys have a great morning when woken up like this. Should we have not?" Ageha snuck in while Aka and Miyo were having a shower.

They wake up earlier than him because they're supposed to be his servants.

'Tch, shoujo manga has affected Ageha a bit too much.' Ronin clicked his tongue inside of his mind.

"Ageha, that's fictional." Ronin deadpanned at her and Ageha shook her head.

"We asked chichi-ue's opinion about it. And he said that it was real." Ageha countered.

'Mikado... Troublesome old man, what are you teaching your daughter?' Ronin raised a brow.

"Okay, I'm up. I'm up." Ronin wanted her to get off before Aka and Miyo returns.

"Umu, it is good to be energetic in the morning." Ageha nodded at her and she sat down on him.

"Hmm? What is this thing poking us?" Ageha was about to look downwards and he didn't realize that he had some morning wood.

Moving as fast as he could, his mind calculated his every move.

Every muscle on his body that were needed to dodge the awkward encounter moved.

In a split second he was able to lift Ageha so fast and extricate himself from his bed lightning quick.

Breathing in deeply, he looked at Ageha who was confused. "Mission accomplished, disaster averted."

"What are you talking about, anigimi?" Ageha tilted her head.

But his luck has run out and his vigorous movements ruined the button and zipper of his shorts.

And he had a habit of not wearing any underwear when sleeping. Anything that feels constraining keeps him awake at night.

Ageha's eyes widened like saucers as her pupils dilated. His Excalibur was full mast and he was a bit too shocked to cover himself immediately.

Diving back to his sheets, he fixed his shorts and Ageha just stared at his previous spot, frozen.

'What in the world? Am I cursed with bad luck or something?' Ronin calculated everything perfectly, he didn't expect a wardrobe malfunction at all.

He felt that the world is making his life more troublesome. And this was the second instance of having an event like this happen.

The first was with Tatsuko who was dreaming of cake, now it was Ageha waking him up. He seemed to have received the legendary lucky pervert skill.

"Forget about all that Ageha..." Ronin demanded and she nodded slowly.

"You're so manly, anigimi." Ageha commented and he face palmed.

She then escaped the premises with shaky limbs and he sighed. "Just my luck... Is this my karma for being an assassin?"

At the dining table, Ageha kept on giving him glances and the twins thought that was normal.

She does wake him up from time to time. So they didn't suspect anything when they smelled her scent in their room.

It continued and Ageha was awkward. Aka and Miyo of course noticed it.

"Hmm, Ageha must be getting hit by puberty hard. We must be careful of her." Aka mused.

"You think it's that? Ageha must have hit puberty for a year now." Miyo denied and she could feel that something was amiss.

"Come on, we need to go to the gym. It's time for master Tesshin's speech. It's the new school year." Ronin diverted their attention.

They were now sophomores. The others were freshies and it meant that Miyako and Koyuki would be returning to Kawakami.

Gakuto's family has a dorm and all the others decided to live there except Koyuki who has a house in Kawakami.

Momoyo and Kazuko still stayed in the Kawakami temple though. Tesshin said that it was a waste of money to go live in a dorm.

"Ohhh! Ronin, how about a little fight to commemorate our level up?" Momoyo greeted him.

"I would like to pass." He didn't want to destroy the school. Momoyo was improving leaps and bounds.

And Tesshin is also starting to teach her how to manipulate her ki.

If they fought, they would definitely damage the school.

"Tche, you're no fun. Aka and Miyo doesn't want to fight me anymore too." Momoyo pouted at them.

"We'll fight you, for a price that is." Aka commented and Momoyo frowned.

She was still traumatized about the time where she was forced to wear cat ears.

"I'm not Wanko, I know how to learn from my mistakes." Momoyo huffed.

"Nee-sama, I can learn from my mistakes too!" Kazuko stomped on the ground, sulking.

"No you don't." Miyo shot her down and Kazuko looked like she was a kicked puppy.

"Okay..." It would've worked on anyone else, but they were cold blooded.

"Yamato~ there's my lil bro. How's my minion? You're in highschool now!" Momoyo put her arm over Yamato's shoulder and gave him a noogie.

"Momo-senpai!" Yamato got embarrassed and he was blushing heavily.

"Ahh, he's got a crush on Momoyo huh?" The Kuki famiglia knew immediately.

"Hmmm, that's not how you call me after being in middle school for a whole year!" Momoyo put him in a guillotine.

"Okay, okay! Nee-san." Yamato gave up and Momoyo nodded in satisfaction.

And it all started when they were still in fourth grade. Just before the Kuki famiglia were taken in by Mikado.

In the field that they used to hang out, some 6th graders cornered the Kazama family.

Gakuto and Capt could hold themselves together, but Kazuko was still a nervous wreck and she got taken in as a hostage.

"Heh, move and I'll stab her ears." The leader of the pricks had a drafting compass in hand.

Yamato who distracted a group with Moro so Gakuto and Capt could beat the others were suddenly hogtied.

"Uwaaah! I'm sorry everyone!" Kazuko cried. "Kazuko! We told you to hide!" Yamato gritted his teeth.

"Geh, what's our options here?" Capt furrowed his brows.

"We either let them hurt Kazuko or we get beaten up." Yamato gave them their choices.

"We don't abandon our friends." Gakuto sat down immediately.

"Heh, you shouldn't have even fought us to begin with. This place is ours." The leader gestured to start beating them up.

"Ora, this field is ours! You squirts shouldn't have fought back." The kids started punching and kicking them.

"Yes, senpai! We understand." Gakuto answered, but he thought that he'll bash their faces in later.

'That's it Gakuto, make them hear what they wanna hear so they'll leave us alone quickly.' Yamato bared with it, so did Moro.

"How about you, Kazama. Not so tough now, are ya?" The kid punched Capt.

"You got us outnumbered. You even took Kazuko hostage." Capt was unyielding as ever.

"That doesn't sound like an answer! Hehe, I'll pierce your ears then!" The kid stabbed him in the earlobe with the compass.

'Shit! You could've saved yourself some pain, Shouichi...' Yamato winced.

And when they left them, Kazuko apologized profusely, crying her eyes out.

"Tch, those pricks just had Kazuko with them. If they didn't we'd beat them up!" Gakuto vowed vengeance.

"Yeah, they couldn't beat us one on one! So they needed a hostage." Capt clicked his tongue.

"Come on, let's go beat them up!" Gakuto wanted to go throw hands again.

"Right now!?" Moro got nervous. "No, they were many. We'll get a ringer ourselves. I know someone from 5th grade." Yamato squinted his eyes.

"You know Kawakami temple?" Yamato asked them and they nodded.

"The youngest there is the 5th grader. And she's got a reputation." Yamato was amazed that someone can be that strong.

"Then we leave it to you, tactician!" Capt gave him a toothy smile.

"Hah, of course I will be doing it." Yamato researched about Momoyo and he brought in an offering, a rare baseball card.

And when he arrived at the temple, he saw a short haired girl who talked like a yankee.

"Hoh? Interesting... So these guys beated you with unfair tactics huh?" Momoyo thought that it would be nice to beat someone up.

"Yeah, are you up for it?" Yamato was prepared and Momoyo nodded.

"Sure, I'll beat their faces in. I'm the youngest here in the temple, so they all order me around." Momoyo wanted to release some stress.

"But my payment will be you." Momoyo grinned at him and he raised a brow.

"Me?" Yamato blinked and Momoyo nodded. "That's right, I also want a minion. So you'll be my lil bro."

"Ohh, okay... Aneki." Yamato thought that she'll just get bored and leave them alone after some time.

"Aneki doesn't seem right, call me differently." Momoyo rubbed her chin, dissatisfied.

"Nee-san?" Yamato tried another and Momoyo liked the sound of that.

"Yosh! You'll call me nee-san from now on. And you're going to be my lil bro." Momoyo was pleased.

"Nee-san, I also brought this for you." Yamato gave her the baseball card as he learned that she was an avid collector.

"Ohhhh... I have a good feeling about this, lil bro." Momoyo had a grin on her face and from there on out, Yamato always read the fine print.

After recruiting her, they immediately looked for the 6th graders and they didn't even last a minute.

"H-hey! You're going to regret this, my big bro is in middle school!" Their leader was being a typical villain.

"Hoh? Good, then bring him too. I want a 12th punching bag." Momoyo grinned at him.

"I... I'm evil! I can torture cats without blinking an eye, you'll regret this!" He tried to intimidate her.

"Evil huh? Then let's go on a date, senpai." Momoyo smiled at him.

"Huh?" Everybody was stupefied, but she pointed at a building.

"See that over there? Let's go to the 3rd floor and have our date there, I'll show you something nice." Momoyo dragged him and the Kazama family followed them.

"W-what are we doing here?" The 6th grader was scared shitless.

"See, this is our date. Sky diving, you're very lucky. Not many people experienced flying before." Momoyo dragged him through his collar.

"Hieee! Please! Don't! I'll be good from now on I swear!" The kid begged.

"Did you say something?" Momoyo cleaned out her ears.

"Anyways, I'll even drop you feet first. Aren't I kind? Go! Fly like the wind!" Momoyo dropped him mercilessly.

He screamed and when he dropped to the ground, his legs broke.

"Tsk, tsk, you shouldn't be playing in high places. You could slip and accidents can happen." Momoyo shook her head with a smirk on her face.

When they checked on him back at the ground, the Kazama family were shaken.

"D-didn't you go too far?" Capt was surprised at Momoyo's brutality.

"Heh, you won't be playing in high places anymore right? Look, you even slipped." Momoyo was like a mafia boss.

"Y-yes! I won't ever show myself again!" The kid pissed his pants and was groaning in pain.

"If I ever see you again, or hear that you've been torturing cats. I'll make sure that you'd beg me to break your legs instead." Momoyo glared at him and they left.

Shortly after that, the Kuki famiglia arrived. So Momoyo got curbed a bit, she idolized Shakadou after all.

And the rest was history. Momoyo had a new focus though, so Yamato was sidelined.

"Poor kid, he would get his heart broken." Aka shook her head in pity.

"Yeah, he doesn't stand a chance." Miyo gave him a look as if to say rest in peace.

After all, Momoyo has a very high standard. Which is natural, because she's not only strong. She is also beautiful.

"Hey, Gakuto. You have a spare room in your dorm?" Ronin who was stewing in his thoughts had an idea.

"Un, we have plenty. Why? You thinking of moving in?" Gakuto affirmed.

"Perfect, Aka, Miyo. I know what we're going to do today." He needed to make Ageha forget about the incident in his room.

And Mikado wasn't helping, so he has to think of something himself.
