Carelessness

Basic Elementary School's Sports Field

Upon reaching the school's sports field, Ivan was met with fierce winds and loud explosions generated by the casters' aoe spells.

The pained roar of a dragon resounded in the boy's ears soon after.

"Sheesh, since when were my teachers this strong? The dragon hasn't even fully emerged yet it's already close to dying."

When he looked towards the source of the sound, Ivan saw that the giant dragon had already lost one of its dragon claws due to the continuous combo slashes performed by the surrounding knights.

Since the giant dragon had lost one of its supporting beams, with only one claw remaining on the ground, the upper body of the giant dragon started swaying like it would fall over anytime soon.

When Ivan noticed the swaying of the giant dragon, he suddenly remembered an old nursery rhyme about a falling building.

"While the teachers are busy dealing with the giant dragon, should I sing 'London Bridge is Falling Down'?"

'Eh? What even is London Bridge? I don't know any bridges in Ishgar with names though. London…where would London be in Ishgar? Avalon, maybe.'

Ignoring the pitiful cries of the giant dragon as it continued to endure painful beatings caused by his teachers, Ivan was just about to dash across the field to loot some monster corpses when the ground started shaking again.

"What the? An earthquake?" The boy asked in bewilderment as he dropped to the ground in a crouch position.

Although Ivan was clueless about the quakes, his teachers certainly weren't.

Just right when the first tremors could be felt, Liew Weng's face suddenly turned solemn as he ordered the knights to fall back in between the archers and casters.

"But Sir, the boss monster is still alive—"

"The only thing important here is your life! Not the boss monster!"

"Ah, yes Sir."

Although the command Liew Weng gave out made the frontliners somewhat confused, the knights decided to retreat since the boss monster, the Green Fire Poison Dragon, was still immobilized for the time being.

"Boom!" Within the time frame where the knights were still retreating to the back, a streak of light flashed by the legs of a knight and struck the ground, leaving a gaping hole.

It was a lightning bolt. A lightning bolt came out of the green portal!

"Tch, it came faster than expected. Knights, pick up the pace! Archers, Casters, cover our rear!" [Liew Weng]

"Sir yes Sir!" The subjugation team nodded in unison.

The knights increased their pace as the archers and casters pointed their arrows and spells at the green portal.

Anything that comes out of the portal would be shot down without mercy.

Alas, their efforts were proven futile when multiple bolts of lightning zoomed out of the green portal before striking the knights nearest to the portal entrance, paralyzing them as a result.

"Casters, quickly cast barrier magic—"

Before Liew Weng could even finish his sentence, the immobilized Green Fire Poison Dragon suddenly stood up with its two fully healed arms before releasing a torrent of green fire towards the paralysed knights.

Following that, the paralysed knights screamed in agony as they were burned alive without being able to do anything.

And since it was the breath of Green Fire Poison Dragon, not only did they feel incredibly hot, the paralysed knights could also see that their skin was rotting away, revealing the white bones underneath.

As for the members of the subjugation team who were witnessing the slow deaths of their teammates, some people who couldn't bear the gory scene proceeded to vomit out their lunch while others made a desperate attempt to save their colleagues who were still meters behind the safety line.

Ivan, who was behind the casters at the time, suddenly witnessed the corrosion of his teachers while being engulfed in green fire.

And just like any sane person would, his mind couldn't handle the gore and vomited.

'Frick, frick, frick! My teachers are…they are melting before my eyes?! Their faces filled with agony, I remember them all! I…I…Blergh!!!!'

The other teachers however, fared better compared to the 10 year old child.

They were indeed saddened when their colleagues melted before their eyes.

But it didn't take long before their pale and frightened faces quickly regained color, readjusting their minds to face the Green Fire Poison Dragon again.

Although the thing inside the green portal was far more dangerous than the boss monster itself, the remaining teachers focused their gazes on the giant dragon instead.

Even Liew Weng, who flinched at the sight of his fellow colleagues burning alive, pointed his sword at the giant dragon and shouted.

"Everyone, listen up! The interdimensional rift we're dealing with right now is a grade 5 poison fire type interdimensional rift. Although the possibility of having a 2nd boss monster appear from this grade of rift is incredibly low, the possibility is not 0%.

Do forgive me for the death of our comrades since their deaths are linked to my poor eyesight. From the looks of the first two attacks, I can deduce that another grade 5 interdimensional beast, specifically the Lightning Fire Demon, resides within the poison world.

From my experience, the Lightning Fire Demon is actually incredibly weak since its main abilities are Blinding Lightning and Paralysis. If we kill the Green Fire Poison Dragon now, we'll have a better chance at dealing with the demon later.

So please…lend me your help to subjugate the 1st boss monster please!"

Upon finishing his explanation, Liew Weng did a 90 degree bow towards his colleagues as they remained silent the entire time.

Even Ivan, who after listening to his P.E. teacher's explanation fell into deep thought.

'According to Mr. Liew Weng's explanation, if he was more vigilant during the monster subjugation process, the deaths of the other teachers could be avoided. But since he was careless, not only did he expose his team to extra danger, he even got a few of them killed which was totally unacceptable by his standards.'

"What a responsible teacher Mr. Liew Weng is." The young Ivan soon concluded.
