Monsters and Magic. A world overrun by unknown creatures, with death and misery around every corner. It seemed that humanity was on the brink of extinction... But humans persevered. Maker of Weapons

"Yaku! Yaku!"

The silent brigade. A bloody street corner on the night of a full moon. A monster born out of pure hatred.

A monster grotesque in shape, legs like a centipede, body like a horse, and the face of a human.

They say it was the first recorded instance of a monster with human-like features. The first instance of a monster being able to talk.

This monster's name was Hermes.

Magic.

Where does it come from? How does one get magic? Are they born with it? Is it gained? Is it luck?

Many normal people across the earth are unaware of their magic. These people are born with abilities so insignificant that it goes unnoticed and uncared for. Whilst others who are born with magnificent magic are brought in by the Magic Force. And once a Sorcerer grows too old to work, they create family lineages to keep their magnificent magic running for generations.

Yaku Tanoki was born the third son of the Tanoki family. Like any magic family, the genes are what make the magician. Breeding for the strongest magic user, the strongest abilities. Yaku's parents produced three children.

The first child was born with his mother's magic. The second child was born with his fathers.

And on the Fifth of December. A miracle birth had taken place.

Most to all Sorcerers born in magic families only take after one parent. With one magic gene being dominant and the other being recessive.

Yaku's birth was something special, a one in a million. From his father, he got the ability to turn monsters into weapons. From his mother, he got the ability to...

Yaku touched the green parasitic monster Dolos.

"I summon thee! Dolos! Become mine!" (Yaku)

A bright light shined on an apocalyptic night. A weapon formed in the darkness between the raging monster and the demolished church.

A glaive.

A long dark emerald staff weapon with a sharp one-sided blade on the tip, and a small hook on the flat side pointing out.

Yaku held it up to the sky. He pointed it at the monster.

"This can work." (Yaku)

He gripped the staff, holding it tight to Dolos's heart.

"I understand." (Yaku)

He pulled his arm back and pointed the blade at the monster's huge circulating red eye.

He readied, aimed, fired.

He javelined Dolos across the sky. Its sharp edge spinning like a drill, until-

Slink!

It pierced the monster's eye. Blood spilling and screaming. It rolled around, it's massive three-story blobby body falling back, slamming back into the del Farari Canal. Dolos stuck up, it pierced deep in, with the small hook on the blade keeping it stable and locked.

"I'm not done yet." (Yaku)

He pulled out Hermies and threw it into the air. He crossed his arms and focused his magic on a single point.

"Hermes Flash!" (Yaku)

It flew across the sky in a straight line, focused on Dolos, hitting it right on the back, hitting it deeper and deeper. Piercing the eye deeper and deeper, pushing the glaive deeper and deeper.

"More!" (Yaku)

It flung across the skies, hitting the glaive again and again and again. Deeper and deeper and deeper. Blood shooting out in all directions. The blob monster screamed to high heavens. It's hundreds of mouths crying out in a symphony of pain.

Again... A clinking sound echoed from inside the blob monster as Yaku pushed Dolos further in. It was something hard. A solid object inside the mass of flesh and limbs.

"That's it! One more hit!" (Yaku)

He pulled Hermes back for one last attack, he held out his hands and focused on a powerful hit, a powerful push to break through the monsters head.

The blob monster began to fight back.

Its skin slowly began to form around the glaive. The pink flesh slowly covered up the area so that Yaku couldn't finish his attack.

Yaku flinched back. He stopped channeling his magic.

"Don't stop!" (Jack)

Jack stepped up. He held out his white floating orb.

"Put all your force in here." (Jack)

Yaku looked down confused at Jack's request. He looked at the white orb in front of him.

"What do you-" (Yaku)

"Just do it." (Jack)

"Uh. Ok!" (Yaku)

Yaku charged up his attack, and in one final strike, he hit the white orb with all his power.

A silent roar perpetuated from inside the overgrown mound of flesh.

Crack... Crack... Pop!

The countless mouths littered across the blob monster fell silent, its large obese body stopped moving, the flaps covering the pierced glaive slowly folded out into a loose flesh.

Jack walked up to the canal. He looked at the blocked up water, the destroyed stone on the edges of where the monster fell in. He pointed at the flaps of skin covering the glaive.

"How did you do that?" (Yaku)

"Cut it open first." (Jack)

Yaku held out his golden Hermes dagger. He cut open the loose flaps of flesh, revealing a black orb floating inside.

"I snuck my yin in while the monster was distracted by you. Then I transferred the force and magic of your final attack." (Jack)

"So that's your magic?" (Yaku)

Yaku grabbed Dolos. He laid it across the dark bloody ground. He then walked over to his old brown briefcase laying under the rubble and debris.

He unhooked and opened it up.

Jack looked inside curiously. He leaned over Yaku's shoulder.

"What are you-" (Jack)

A hole never-ending. A hole reaching infinite, infinitely infinite.

Yaku tossed his two weapons Dolos and Hermes inside. They disappeared into the small void inside the briefcase.

"Wha- Where did that! Where did they go?" (Jack)

Yaku closed the case.

"It's my other magic. It's complicated." (Yaku)

He picked up the briefcase and walked back over to the blob monster. Jack followed.

"What do you mean complicated? Are you able to use two magic abilities?" (Jack)

Yaku kneeled down over the canal and touched the massive pink fleshy monster.

"I have two magic's inside of me. First, I can turn monsters into weapons. And the other... I can connect any hole to another, like a portal, but not really. But I'm not as good with it so I can only do the briefcase right now." (Yaku)

"Odd? I'm pretty sure Red told me everyone has one magic. Kinda suspicious." (Jack)

Yaku look at him like he was an idiot.

"I'm in the Special Magic Squad for a reason." (Yaku)

Jack shrugged.

"Hmmmmm? Wait! Are all the Special Magic Squad members weird like you?" (Jack)

"No clue, I haven't met them yet." (Yaku)

"Oh." (Jack)

"We're going to meet them soon anyway..." (Yaku)

Yaku placed both his hands firmly on the blob monster.

"Hmm... Weird. I can't feel its name. Every monster has a name." (Yaku)

Jack stepped back.

"Is your magic not working? Double magic boy." (Jack)

"Yeah shut up. I... I can't feel a heartbeat? This is so weird... Monsters don't fully die until they are burned? But this one?" (Yaku)

He put all his magic into turning the blob monster into a weapon.

"I summon thee!" (Yaku)

Nothing happened.

"I summon thee! I summon thee!" (Yaku)

Nothing happened.

"You're probably out of magic." (Jack)

"No no... This is... This thing..." (Yaku)

Yaku stepped back horrified. He looked at its destroyed eye, it's limbs, flesh, body.

"No no no. This can't believe it!" (Yaku)

"What?" (Jack)

"It's... It's human!" (Yaku)

A small bar in Tokyo, Japan. Many hours later.

"Are the new recruits coming?" (Third-Class Sorcerer, Special Magic Squad, Vlad Popov)

"They should be on their way now. Back from their first introduction mission." (Second-Class Sorcerer, Special Magic Squad, Diana Court)

"I heard they got into a bit of a scuffle with some mysterious monster in Italy." (Vlad Popov)

"Ha, typical of a new recruit to the Special Magic Squad. Always finding the craziest shit." (Third-Class Sorcerer, Special Magic Squad, Qwan Way)

"Shut up Qwan. It's only you that makes trouble." (Vlad)

"Your one to speak, Vlad the Drunk!" (Qway)

"I'm... I'm not drunk!" (Vlad)

Diana Court, a woman with stunning silky black hair and cold stern eyes stepped up from the bar. She took the last sip of her drink and walked back, in tall black heels, to her drunk squad mates.

"Boys boys... It's time we go back to base and meet our new friends." (Diana)

Qway swung around, he looked up at the tall Diana, her red flower pin looking him right in the face.

"Oh hi-" (Qway)

She picked them up by their collars and dragged them out of the bar.

"Let go of me demon!" (Qway)

"But I still haven't finished my... My drink!!!" (Vlad)
