Chapter 36: Grab the Rope

I stared up at him from a kneeling position on the floor, frozen at the sight of his approach. The dark tower of a man reached a strong hand down in my direction, causing me to shrink toward the floor in fear of what he might do. Elliot paused, then continued to reach behind me to open the drawer of the bedside table. He pulled out the choker and dangled it over me. “You put it away last night. I was only trying to help.”

I reached up to delicately grab the necklace when a wave of pain rolled over my body. I fumbled with the clasp, trying to get it back on as quickly as possible. “Everything hurts, what did you do to me?”

Elliot turned to make a casual pace away from me, replying in a sad tone. “I only did what you asked me to do. If I would have known you’d treat me like a monster for it, I would have declined.” He kept walking away without looking back at me, adding. “We’ll be touching down soon, I’ll give you some space to freshen up.”
