Chapter 26: Brothel Rules

As Yujin’s face inched closer to mine, I could feel their breath on my skin. I froze in place, lips parted and eyes gently closed. Then I heard the rumble of my work phone vibrate from inside my bag. My body jumped slightly after being startled by the abrupt noise. I tried to stay as still as possible, hoping maybe they didn’t notice.

“What the f*ck was that?” they rumbled, dangerously close to my face.

In a panic, I decided the best move would be to come clean about the phone. I kept my eyes closed, shrinking slightly back from them to speak. “That’s the cell phone Elliot gave me. For work. I usually only have it on when I’m at the office, I guess I forgot to turn it off.”

The grip on my hair pulled me back away from them. I opened my eyes to spot an accusatory stare coming from their direction. “He gave you a phone, and you didn’t tell me about it?”

I gently pawed at their chest, shaking my head as best I could. “It isn’t like that, I only use it for work.”
