Chapter 25: Defective
I wormed my legs under the comforter, feeling equal parts exhausted and curious. It wasn’t like Yujin to seem this nervous, but while I got comfortable in the bed they remained seated on the edge staring in the other direction in quiet contemplation. After an awkward silence, I reminded them, “If I was going to run away, I would have done it by now. Whatever it is, I’m sure it’s fine.”
They let out a brief exhale of a laugh and shook their head. After another moment, they crawled under the comforter and wrapped an arm around my shoulder to pull me next to them. “With your scars, you said you were worried I’d be disappointed or that I wouldn’t like you if I found out. I know that feeling really well.”
I couldn’t hide the obvious confusion on my face. “But you’re gorgeous,” I blurted out.
