Chapter 24: Secret Phone
With the lock removed and Gia passed out in my bed, I wandered around the suite trying to think of how to make myself useful. I had slept quite a while on the plane, so I didn’t anticipate being tired anytime soon. With Yujin’s jealousy issues, I didn’t want to chance crawling into bed with their sister, even if it was entirely innocent. I made myself comfortable in front of the stack of books I’d accumulated and started working through my Italian worksheets.
A few hours later, I could hear Paolo on the other side of the door exclaiming about the mess we’d left. I thought about stepping out to talk to him, but instead waited for his voice to fade before continuing to read. Every time I heard a set of footsteps or a car outside, I wished it was Yujin coming home. Even with the lock removed, I’d decided to wait for them where they’d know to find me. And I wanted to be there for Gia when she woke up to hold true to my promise.
