Chapter 23

　　Barbara's shrill voice gave Randall a headache. He then asked, "How much have you invested?"

　　Barbara looked a little anxious and said, "Everyone said that this is a great opportunity. So, I didn't want to miss it. I mortgaged our house and all the shares we held from the Sarton Group."

　　"That means, all your assets?" Randall could not help asking.

　　"Keep your voice down? Are you blaming me for it?" Randall's words agitated Barbara. She felt humiliated.

　　"I didn't mean that," Randall quickly said. "I mean, whoever encouraged you to put more money into this probably ganged up with them."

　　A couple of middle-aged women approached at the sound of Randall's words.

　　A blonde woman among them looked at Randall and complained, "What do you mean by that? We, too, are victims. What makes you think that we've ganged up with them?"

　　"That's right. We can sue you for defamation. I've lost 500 thousand dollars, that's no less than the money Barbara has invested."
