"What happened to him?" Emily asked the doctor once Angelo was lying on his bed. As soon as she heard about Angelo's accident at work, Emily made sure that the driver had driven her to Angelo's office. Once she stepped into one of the office rooms, she was lucky that the doctor had already tended to him, but just like now, he was also sleeping.
"Like I told his sibling, he needs to rest. He has too much stress on him, and the more burdens he carries, the worse he will become." The doctor's words were less than comforting, but Emily nodded, agreeing to the doctor's orders.
"Thank you, doctor. I will make sure that he gets all the rest he needs."
"Great, I will not be taking my leave."
"I will walk you out."
"No, there's no need to bother. I will walk myself out, Mrs. Sorrentino," the doctor told her before leaving. Hearing the doctor refer to her as "Mrs. Sorrentino" made Emily feel even less deserving of that name.
