CHAPTER FOUR: STANDING UP TO XERXES

XERXES' POV

I was sitting in my throne room with my Luna and her hand maid massaging her legs when Blake informed me that they had found the man who betrayed me to one of my enemies which resulted to an attempt that almost cost me my life.

"Take him to the execution space and prepare my sword" I commanded before turning to my wife "Are you in for some fun?" I asked with a smirk as I felt my eyes changing colour as anger rose in me.

"Yes my Lord" she replied with a wicked smile. She knew what exactly to expect, she has heard a lot of stories about me but she was about to witness one today. I took her hand and helped her down the stairs before releasing her hand and walking ahead of her.

"Run along Kayden" I heard her call to her maid but I kept my gaze on the path to the execution space. The traitor happened to be one of my pack members and it infuriated me more. I walked to the cross where he was tied to with my sword in my hand. I pulled down the gag on his mouth and he began to plead.

"I'm sorry my Alpha please spare me"

"I'll ask only once, who did you betray me to?" I asked and I could hear his heart pounding and his eyes widened all of a sudden

"Alpha she's the one! It's her!" He exclaimed and I was certain if his hands were not tied he would have pointed to the "she" he was referring to, but it was too late. His end has come. I pulled up the gag making him mumble and shake his head. Then without warning my sword went for his ankles and his feet fell off the cross as blood gushed out. People had gathered but even though they were used to my brutal ways they still get amused. My sword struck again this time a little before the knees, then his knees then waist. I trailed my sword across his body from different angles tearing him and his intestines came to view. As his weight began to pull his head and hands down, I split his head in two evenly distributing his weight before cutting both hands. Women closed their mouths with their hands while children cried and their mothers tried cooing them. Everyone turned as loud steps were heard behind me and I turned too in time to watch Kayden throw up a few steps away from my wife. The women gasped immediately in understanding. I marched to her with my sword leaving triails of blood beside me. She was trembling with fear and I loved the fear I saw in her eyes. She kept her gaze down but I tilted her head with the bloody sword under her chin

"Yours would have been much more fun, don't make me change my mind " I advised in a whisper and she nodded. My eyes went to her bare stomach, and my hands followed wiping off the blood on the sword, Mac almost ran mad as he kept urging me not to try anything stupid. I threw the sword at her feet

"Wash it" and to Blake "set him ablaze"

After the Luna took her bath and had lunch she dismissed Kayden for day saying she needed some beauty sleep and Kayden who seemed disturbed after watching Xerxes kill gruesomely needed some air. Kayden immediately headed for the kitchen to meet Nanan but a strong pair of hands stopped her as they pulled her into a small corner where she came face to face with Blake

"Don't you have a better way of stopping me Blake?" She asked folding her arms

"This one suits you most" he answered with a smile

"I see" she replied returning the smile

"How are you doing Kayden?" He asked taking her hands

"Very well..."

"Wanna walk?" He asked and she took her hands away "What's wrong"

"I'm wondering who to ditch right now, if I choose you over Nanan it'll give her ideas"

"Isn't that what we are doing... giving her ideas?" He asked and they both laughed softly "hold on, there's something in your hair"

"You've got something on your lips too"

"Is that so, who's going first then?"

"We should both do it together"

"Great, come here" he pulled her to him closing the gap between them. Her hand went to his face wiping off the little stain there

"Done" she announced

"Mine might take a while" he explained and she stood still waiting, as his hands encircling her neck moved busily on her hair and his warm breath caressed her ear. She felt her wolf jump inside of her and she rebuked her reminding her that they had a mate who had rejected them and that Blake was only a friend trying to help.

"Blake!" She heard the voice that haunted her dreams call and she looked at Blake immediately. A smirk appeared on his face and disappeared as quickly as it came before they both turned to the Alpha.

"Who's in charge of the palace gate" he asked and it was obvious he just made the question up

"Cyrus and his team" he bowed

"Go see if everything is well" he commanded and Blake bowed before giving me an "I'll see you around look" before leaving and I nodded.

"What are you doing here?" He asked her coldly

"I am on my way to the kitchen to see Nanan" she explained

"Aren't you supposed to be waiting on my wife"

"She dismissed me"

"And it gave you the opportunity to flirt around looking for your next victim huh?" He asked bitterly and she raised her eyes to meet his

"I wasn't flirting with Blake" she replied her eyes red with anger

"That's what all whores say; come I have work for you"

"I am subject to the Luna not you Alpha" she protested and he turned to look at her.

"I am the king here, everyone and everything is subject to me, you don't want to upset me Kayden" he advised giving her no choice but to follow.
