Chapter 54: Zoey

Shock registered across my mates faces as they realized the same thing I did. I looked over at Jackson to see if my guess was right.

"Well Zoey, I can only assume that the times she was in the house she was planting some kind of listening device. I honestly never thought about it and never scanned the house for it since we were just dealing with Wilmington at the time. As soon as we leave here, I'll scan the house for audio devices that aren't supposed to be there. I'll also check to make sure that someone isn't hacking into our video feeds just to be safe. They shouldn't be as we monitor for if that happens, but now I'm paranoid and I want to double check."

"What is wrong with you people!? How can you be so accepting of a freak that doesn't even have a wolf? She is fucking worthless!"

Erica's shrieking voice drowned everyone out. Jer was barely hanging onto his wolf. You could hear it in his voice as the wolf spoke, his voice deeper and more gravelly than normal, with an accent I couldn't place. It wasn't often a wolf chose to speak through their human.

"The joke is on you, pathetic human. Our mate DOES have a wolf. And tonight, she will be free. Something you would know if you ever bothered to listen to your wolf. I can hear how much your wolf despises you and how much she begs the Goddess to be removed from you. She is ashamed of your actions. You are nothing but poison, human. A cancer infecting this pack."

I gaped at him in surprise.

"I… I have a wolf?"

Jer's wolf looked at me fondly.

"Yes, lovely human. You do and she is our mate as much as you are for our humans. I can't wait to meet her, and I know she will be just as lovely as you."

"But why hasn't she come to me before now?"

"There is a prophecy about you lovely one, and it wasn't time yet for her to appear. But now the prophecy is in alinement and soon she will be set free to be with us."

"A prophecy? What prophecy?"

"By the power of three will the Moon Goddess wolf be set free."

I looked at Deke in disbelief.

"The power of three?"

I heard Laurie snort.

"Your three mates, girl. Having three mates is unheard of. Wolves only get one. But there's something you're destined for that you need three mates. My friend, you are gonna keep life here interesting."

Laughter rang through the room at Laurie's words, and it helped tone down the shock. I snuggled into Deke's side as I was starting to feel just a little overwhelmed but excited. A wolf? Really? Now I definitely couldn't wait for tonight.

"You people are disgusting. A freakshow of leadership."

I snorted. "Fuck you, Erica."

She glared at me. "You ruined my life you bitch."

"Nope!" I made a popping sound on the "P" at the end of the word. "You did that all on your own eight years ago. Your disdain and prejudice for anything you think is different is what ruined your life. It's just taken some time for karma to catch up with you. But now I gotta wonder what other pack secrets you've heard as you spied on your Alpha. And what you thought you were gonna do with them."

There was a sudden outcry as my words hit. Many people had come and spoken in private with the Alpha and were now worried about others knowing what they had said.

Ash's voice cut through the din.

"I apologize to my pack for the breach of the trust that you gave me. You all came to me in confidence and that's been broken."

The pack members immediately protested.

"It's not your fault Alpha Asher. You didn't know that someone within our pack would be so underhanded and deceitful as to place listening devices in your own home."

"Yeah, don't blame yourself Alpha. It's not your fault, it's hers."

"There's no way we would blame you, Alpha. So don't blame yourself."

"You had no reason to think someone would betray our pack like that."

The sadness on Ash's face and the pain in his eyes was breaking my heart.

"Regardless, your trust was broken. It grieves me that this happened. And I promise that from now on steps will be taken to make sure it doesn't happen again. We'll be doing daily scans of our home to make sure there is nothing there that shouldn't be."

He sounded so heartbroken. I seethed with rage. Again, she had managed to hurt one of my mates. I surprised Deke when I jerked away from him and punched that bitch with a left hook to the side of her face and followed up with an uppercut that she took on the chin, knocking her ass out. Her body hit the floor with a thump, the back of her head slamming on the tile with a cracking sound. I looked down at her body in disgust.

"Holy fuck, baby. That was perfectly done and so fucking hot."

I gave Deke a look over my shoulder and winked.

"Told her not to mess with my mates."

Laughter rang out and Deke, Ash, and Jer all came to me and gave me long, slow kisses. The room erupted in cheers. We were all smiling again as we broke apart. I looked down at Erica's unconscious body.

"So, what do we do with her now?"

Ash gestured and the enforcer group came forward and grabbed her body and dragged her out the door.

"Now she gets put in our jail and becomes a problem for another day. Tonight, we claim our mate, set your wolf free, and make you the official Luna of Silver Moon pack."

Cheers erupted again and as we went to leave there was a chant of "Luna. Luna. Luna. Luna." It made my heart soar, and I realized I had finally found a place to belong. A place I was accepted and cared for. A place I called home. 

The limo driver was smiling as he opened the door for us, and we all climbed in. I watched as Jer raised the tinted glass partition between us and the driver. He pushed the intercom button, and his words had me wet in a heartbeat.

"Just drive around for a while, Derrick. We have some unfinished business with our mate before we go home."

"Yes sir, Mr. Williams."

I looked at my mates as they all licked their lips. Ooohh boy. I was excited to find out just what they had in mind. I smiled as Deke crooked his finger at me.

"Come over here, baby."
