Chapter 8: State of Grace

Two years and a degree in business later from the community college, Shayla was trying to live a good life. Keyword being trying. She had succumbed to the mundane everyday life of Great Falls while she desperately missed her best friend.

They kept in touch as much as possible via texts, calls and video chats. Evan came home during holidays, and she loved seeing him, but her heart broke every time he would go back to school.

She had to remind herself that even though it hurt for him to go back, it was nothing compared to the pain loving him could cause.

And by loving him she meant giving her life to him and vice versa. Committing to each other and giving in to those desires that had haunted her for so long.

Because she did love him, with her whole heart.

She always tried to find things to distract herself from thoughts of him. Especially on the days where he was busy, and they couldn't speak.

She found a painting class to take. She took a yoga class.
