Chapter 26: Oh, Baby!

The weeks melted into months and the months melted into an entire year. Things calmed down and the idea of finishing a war that Seamus had started was pushed to the wayside.
Though Shayla wanted nothing more than to end Seamus and now Gracie, she lost her will and strength to do so.
She started missing a bunch of work. They threatened to hire a new store manager if she didn't get her act together. So, she did. Or so it would seem to the bosses. She showed up at work, numbed, and unfocused. She would do what she needed to and clock out. The next day, the exact same thing over and over again.
Life just stopped and she began to really understand her father that much more. Evan hadn’t died, but it sure felt like he had to her.
