Chapter 19: A Night to Remember

Evan

Shayla couldn't sleep. She tossed and turned violently until she woke Evan.

"Hey, are you okay?" he asked her as he turned to his side to face her.

"No. I can't sleep. My mind is a mess."

"Wanna talk about it?" he asked as he stroked her cheek with his finger.

"I do, but I am hungry."

Leave it to Shayla's stomach to growl at such a time. But stress made her hungry. She couldn't help it and he couldn't help but think it was one of her most adorable qualities.

Fifteen minutes later they were on the road, bed head and all, to their favorite breakfast joint.

The place was pretty dead, which he was grateful for. It just meant Shayla could talk more openly to him.

They found a table off by itself and the waitress seemed slightly annoyed at the distance she had to walk to serve them. They didn't care though.

After they got their coffee and omelets, Shayla decided it was a good time to fill Evan in while he ate.
