After meeting Mai, Lucas has beaten 2 other duelist earning 4 star chips bringing his total up to 8 "ugh just need to find another duelist and j can get in the freaking castle" Lucas said
he decided to take a short nap considering it was night time, he prepared his tent, ate dinner then went to sleep
his sleep doesn't last much though, as he gets hit with some water.
"okay who is messing with my sleep" Shouted Lucas pissed off
It's dueling time!"
As he tries to recognize the voice, all of a sudden fire is spit out from nowhere in front of him. As he try to dodge it, he looks in front of him and saw a Dueling Arena, with a man facing him: it was very tall and creepy with black spiky hair.
"My name's PaniK" he says "And we're now going to duel right now. If I win, you'll get eliminated!"
"WHAT" I yell "ARE YOU KIDDING JOKING"
No, I'm not. You think that fire is just for show?" he said
He's got a point. Lucas having no choice he has to battle "If I win I want my last 2 star chips" said Lucas "fine by me hahahaha" responded PaniK laughing creepily
"Let's duel" they both said
"since you challenged me I'll go first, hmm I normal summon Gozuki and activate its effect sending despair from the dark to the graveyard, then I end my turn" said Lucas "I draw one card, then I activate darklord lxchel effect discarding it and another darklord I get to draw two card, then
I summon Albert, jester of despia and then I set two cards face down, then I end my turn what are you going to do Boy" said PaniK crackling
"my turn I draw a card then i set a card, I normal summon Shiranui solitaire activating its ability I tribute him and summon Shiranui spectralsword I chain its effect with Ghost meets girl discarding 1 card from my hand I special summon Shiranui spectralsword shade, activating plaguespreader zombies effect from the graveyard I banish 1 monster and summon him in defense"
"wait a moment" said PaniK "I activate super polymerization using your plaguespreader zombie and my monster I summon despian quaeritis"
"ugh okay I end my turn" said Lucas "my turn, I draw and attack Shiranui spectralsword with Despian quaeritis"
"not so fast I activate my trap card mirror force destroying your monster" said Lucas "ugh you'll pay for that, I end my turn" said PaniK
"I draw one card then i normal summon Shiranui samurai, I activate plaguespreader zombie effect again banishing 1 card I summon him to the field, then i synchro summon using all my monsters my ACE...STAR EATER rise, it's time to end this duel PaniK I attack with star eater...star flamesss "shouted Lucas
"nooooo" PaniK cried out falling to his knees "here your last 2 star chips and get out of my sight"
"thank you for the gift oh little PaniK bye bye" said Lucas with a shit eating grin
'with this i finally could enter the castle, i wonder how yugi, joey and Mai are doing well no use thinking about it' thought Lucas as he continued walking towards the giant castle
On the other side of the island
Mai was impressed with Yugi's victory, but not completely satisfied. Other than that, as much as she enjoyed tormenting her own opponents, she didn't feel like she was being challenged. After winning a few of her own duels and acquiring five star chips, Mai decided to take advantage of the matter.
When she met up with Yugi and the gang, she told them how eager she was for another duel. Having had enough of her obnoxious attitude, Téa insisted that Yugi should take her on and eliminate her from the contest. But Mai actually wanted to take on Joey. Like the tactic of many other duelists, Mai always took out those she deemed weak and saved the best for last.
At first, Joey didn't seem too sure, but he accepted her challenge. He knew he would have to face his first duel sooner or later. What he was really afraid of was losing his only star chip and his only chance of helping Serenity. By wanting to take part in the tournament, he promised to do everything he could to keep her from losing her sight. Serenity has looked up to Joey all her life and Joey knew that being her big brother, it was his job to take care of her and always be there for her. Although he was nervous, he wouldn't let that stand in his way.
That was when Joey asked Mai what she was dueling for. On a selfish note, Mai was in it for the prizes. She enjoyed the wealth the prize money offered so she could spend it on many luxuries like fine jewelry, designer clothes, and travel perks. Mai was just one of the many people who enjoyed living large without having to work for anything. Disgusted with Mai's answer, Joey told her that there was a lot more to fight for than just things. But knowing she would just stubbornly refuse to listen to reason, Joey figured the only way to get through to her was to duel her. So finally, he got his determination and told Mai to bring it on.
After a hard battle Joey came on top, Mai was disappointed with herself for her loss, but it wasn't a total loss for she lost only one star chip. But still, she wondered if her way was the wrong way after all. She always enjoyed her victories, but didn't actually think she could learn anything from her losses. Confused, she kept quiet. She didn't even whine or complain about her defeat. Yugi and the others, on the other hand, were proud of Joey for his victory. He really had changed a lot over these past few days. He went from a guy with nothing but eagerness and attitude to a guy who fights with his strength and his heart.
