Chapter Twenty-One

Although I would love to spend the day in my pajamas and maybe watch movies. There is nothing I want more than to spend the day with Jackson. I wore jeans and a sweater which is something I never wear to school. I look at my hair and slowly braid it to the side. I grabbed some soft wool socks and I walked over and grabbed my boots. I carry them downstairs and stop as I sit down on the step. There he was by the door.

He smiled "What no ribbons and red lipstick?" he questioned.

I rolled my eyes. "Jackson, I am off today. You know why I wear those." I said.

He smiled. Just as we walked out the door he grabs my arm.

"Indie, no using your gift today," he said as if I could control it but I will try.

I took a deep breath in and nodded as I put my sunglasses on. Once in the car I dug through my bag, I found a dark cherry red lipstick. Not my usual color for work but a color I rarely wear. I can feel his eyes on me as I finished the last line.

"See something you like, Agent Jones?" I teased.

He smiled. "I thought we agreed, no gift!" He said almost sternly.

I rolled my eyes "Jackson I can't just turn that off like a switch, you know that. Plus I can feel your happiness pour off you." I said with a smile.

His normally olive skin started to turn red. I reached out for his hand.

"Jax, take a deep breath, now close your eyes," I said.

I remembered when he kissed me, I remembered his touch, and I felt the buzz across my body. I looked at him and I could see he felt it.

"Indie? What was that?" he questioned.

I smiled. "That is you. That is what you do to me. The buzz is new to me as well." I said, knowing that my new ability worked.

He looked shocked.

"Now Agent Jones if you like to spend the whole time in our driveway that will be fun but I would rather get going!" I said teasing him.

He nodded and I laughed.

"Did I break the famous Action Jackson!" I said as I trace the red hue in his cheeks.

He laughed and rolled his eyes.

"Seriously what were Maggie and Nolan thinking when they named you?" I asked.

He laughed, "I have no idea, maybe so I could find a girl like you who makes jokes about my name." he said with a smile.

"Maybe your dad thought you would have your own action figure. I will have to find out the next time we see them." I said with a smile as I grabbed his hand.

Maggie and Nolan knew about me. I wasn't just a hidden government secret. Unlike the other government officials, they weren't worried about me. Maggie embraced me every time she saw me. I never knew if this was how she acted or if it was just me. She would always tell me about the beautiful places she saw and how one day I will also see the world. Sadly by the world, she must have meant states because that's all I have seen. I grew to adore his parents so much. I must have been deep in my thoughts because I looked down and noticed his hand was no longer interlaced with mine but was on my thigh. I looked up and noticed we were in the parking lot of the store. I smiled.

"Indiana, where did you go?" He asked as he parked the car.

"I was thinking of Maggie and Nolan. Do you know where they are?" I asked as sometimes they would leave to travel.

He looked down. "I heard the chatter of maybe Russia," he said.

We stepped out of the car. It was chilly but bright and sunny. We started shopping, he handed me a list and I crossed things off.

Things were going so easy until I ran straight into Dom's mother! "Indiana, what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be in school?" she asked confused to see me.

I looked at her still with my sunglasses on and then I looked at Jackson as he returned from getting the milk. I pulled my glasses up, so she can look at my eyes and I look at her. She was like her son, I was able to daze over so fast.

I softly and slowly talked to her. "Mrs. Reynolds, I am sick today. You only know this because you will ask Dom when he comes home. You didn't see me today. You saw my brother, Jackson Parker. You will even tell Dom you thought he was cute but I wasn't here!" I said softly.

She stared at me as if I was giving her air to breathe. She nodded. I put my glasses back on and she walked away. Jackson looked at me.

I shrugged "I couldn't help it!" I said.

He shook his head but he agreed. "Did you really have to bring me into it." he asked.

I laughed. We finished getting everything off the list and I looked at him.

"Let's go get a new book!" I said with excitement.

He looked puzzled by this. "Jackson as much as I would love to hear Annabel and I again. I want something new! Well, new to you." I said with a smile.

He shook his head more in disbelief than anything and followed me.

"Remember that dream I had where I was back in my room?" I asked.

He nodded, "Yeah what about it?" he questioned.

I smiled, "I remembered all the books I had."

I looked at all the books they had and no these weren't as pretty as the books I had. Finally, I found a copy of Pride and Prejudice. I handed the book to him

"Here you are, Mr. Darcy!" I said, handing him a book.

He laughed. "Really this book? Are you sure you don't want to try something actually from this time?" he questioned.

I rolled my eyes "Says the man who had a copy of Poe's greatest works." I said.

He laughed "Fine, you win!"

I laughed only if he knew I sensed that before I even picked the book out. I smiled and he looked at me. I must have been turning red because I think I forgot to breathe.

This made him laugh and nudge me. "INDIANA, LET'S GO BEFORE OUR ICE CREAM MELTS!" he yells.

I took a deep breath but I felt that buzz across my body. This man is going to be the death of me, I can feel it.
