Chapter Two Hundred and Twenty Two - Revealing Truths

Chuckling, "then that would mean my son, is a good husband?" Ryan laughs happily sitting beside me on the bed, while Mrs. Harris sat on the other side holding my hand.

Nodding, "yes he is the best!" I agreed with Ryan. "He's so good to me and I know I don't deserve him, but still he treats me as if I'm special," I bow my head in shame. "I don't deserve his love, I'm too weak and unable to support him," I told Ryan, my tears beginning to fall again.

Gently lifting my chin, "Hailey, Adian understands your pain." Ryan, said, gently removing the loose hair strands fromm from face. "You more than anyone have been through so much, I cannot begin to imagine." He continues, his eyes soft and full of compassion.

Since Ameila is involved, Ryan had to know.

Lifting my eyes to his, "why didn't you say something before concerning David Sullivan's being alive?" I asked softly, the loose strands of hair falling back in my eyes.

Ryan looked away and took a deep breath, before turning his attention back to me. "I was afraid," Ryan admitted.

Frowning, "afraid?" I repeated. "Huh" I huffed. squinting my eyes, "I'm sorry but I don't understand," I responded, at a loss with my mind blanking off.

Straightening himself to face me.

"Hailey I haven't seen you for years and when you did come into our lives, I reached out to your nanny to update myself with your med.. uh, your health," he elaborated.

"And I ran," I suddenly admitted. "When I heard the both of you speaking, I ran and came to live with Adian" I was afraid then, should I be afraid now?

Nodding slowly as he apparently tries to process what I just told him, then suddenly he shook his head in confusion.

"Hailey what did you hear that cause you to run?" Ryan asks softly.

I squeezed Mrs. Harris hands nervously, "uh.. I am..." I stammered.

Placing a hand on Mrs. Harris and mines, "hey, don't be afraid." He says in a comforting tone. "I want to help you not hurt, but I need to know what you overheard, that got you afraid?" Ryan asks again, in the same soft comforting tone.

Staring down at the three hands entwined, "you and Mrs. Pierce were discussing the medication and Mrs. Pierce promised to keep me on it." I explained.

Smiling thoughtfully, "Hailey you misunderstood me and you misunderstood Mrs. Pierce." Ryan starts to explain what I overheard or thought I overheard.

"What i'll take the liberty of sharing with you is this," he continues and I listen attentively, because ending the mysteries surrounding of my present state, is what I need before I can start a new chapter of my life.

"Apparently Ameila notified her about the possibility of you recognizing her at the restaurant, so she needed Mrs. Pierce to ensure you're on you medication, which Ameila believes will keep you safe." He says, his voice breaking as he appears emotionally moved.

I remained silent and looked away.

"Did you recognize her, Hailey?" Ryan asks softly, the tone of his voice forcing me to look at him.

How could I answer him? What can I say? I don't want anyone to think I'm losing my mind, like Basil thought.

"Hailey?" Adian calls softly from the doorway.

I look up instantly to see him standing his eyes penetrating as he stares at me. He's appears tired and worried and I know, I'm the one responsible for the strain on his face.

Pulling my hand of out Ryan and Mrs. Harris, I ran towards Adian, happy when he opened his arms to pick me up as I wrapped my legs around his waist.

"I'm sorry," I cried, "Adian I am so sorry for the last few weeks and all that I put you through," my hands wrapping tightly around his neck.

"Hey," he chuckles softly, "in sickness and in health, remember?" He asks but I just wanted to be held tightly by him and I never want him to let me go.

Adian carried me across to the sofa and invited his father and Mrs. Harris to join us.

The conversation wasn't over and I don't want to continue it.

Adian took control of the conversation, "Hailey, did you remember mom at the restaurant?" He asks just as softly as Ryan did a few minutes ago.

Lifting my chin to meet his gaze. "Tell us, please," Adian coaxed melting my heart.

Shaking my head, "no I didn't, at least not her face." I close my eyes trying to recall that afternoon.

"Nothing and no one was familiar except Mr. Knox" I said and smiled at Adian. "And you," I leaned my head against his shoulder.

"But when I could 't sign the marriage register, she called and I remember the voice." tensing up, I clutched Adian's jersey. "I had no intention of getting married at all, but I remembered her voice from my past and I felt that her voice was significant so when I returned from the bathroom, I decided to go through with the marriage in order to get close to Amelia." I sighed, feeling defeated.

"All I needed was her help in understanding my past and the questions I had about what I remembered, during my..." I didn't want to bring my nightmares into it so I trailed off there.

"When did you stop taking your medication?" Ryan breaks the silence and I wonder why he is only obsessed with my medication.

Deciding to be honest because Adian is beside me, "In college," I whispered.

Ryan was surprised and he didn't hide it, but a sadness covered his surprise.

"Hailey the medication was suppose to keep you from having dreams that troubled you," Ryan continued gently.

"You mean nightmares," Adian muttered.

Ryan was surprise once again but this time he focus his attention on Adian, "you've seen her having nightmares?" He asked curiously.

"Yeah, I have!"
