Chapter Two Hundred and Six - Questioning my Mental Frame!

With a determination I've never felt before, I excused myself from my office for a washroom break, clutching my phone tightly.

Since Adian and Caleb were attending meetings with Ryan, Gerard remained with me and I'm okay with that, because around him, I didn't have to pretend to be fine.

I sat on the turned down toilet seat and quickly dialed Mr. Peters number.

"Hailey my dear, how wonderful to hear from you," Mr. Peters greeted me from the other end of the line.

"I just needed to know if you have found any leads concerning my father." I whispered into the phone.

After a short pause, "uh no, but I can call the agent and see what he found out," Mr. Peters responded hesitantly. "Hailey didn't you say that your father died and you weren't bothering with this investigation?"" Mr. Peters continues, hesitantly. "I mean if you believe that by some coincidence he is alive, I will keep on it." He responded carefully.

What do I want?

What do I believe?"

Am I losing my mind?

"Hailey?" Mr. Peters calls from over the phone.

"Yes, I am here." I answered quickly. "I am sorry," I apologize. "I don't know what is happening to me. Maybe I am finally going crazy," I chuckle softly.

"Never use that word about yourself again. This is what she want and this is what she's are never going to hear from you." Mr. Peters said firmly.

When I didn't answer.

"Do you hear me Hailey?" Mr. Peters scolds me in a firm voice.

Nodding, "yes I hear you," I finally answered him. "I won't give them that power over me, I promise you I won't," I kept nodding, even though he cannot see me.

"Do you still want me to follow up on the investigation?" Mr. Peters asked again.

Finally making a decision which I intend to stay with.

"No thank you. He's dead, let's leave it at that." I instructed him. "Please send me the bill and I will send you the payments for whatever work the agents did." I offered.

Chuckling, "don't worry, it's on me," he responded.

"Okay, thank you" I whispered. "I've been hiding in the washroom long enough, I need to get back on the job." I laugh. "See you at Sunday Mass." I said politely as I was about to hang up.

"See you at Sunday, Hailey." Mr. Peters responded, then hung up.

I used the washroom before entering my office once again, smiling at Gerard whose sitting at the same spot where I left him.

He lifted his eyes when I came out of the washroom, but I saw him glance at my phone before looking down at the magazine in front of him.

My observant bodyguard realize I was in the washroom, making phone calls and I didn't mind him knowing because he won't run off to inform my husband.

I walked into the kitchen and took out two files from the gym, just to make sure I'm missing nothing and to confirm that I'm not going crazy.

I shoved the files into my handbag to take home before reading up the information on my desk about a new potential client.

I was so caught up in preparing a proposal for the client that I didn't realize how late it was until Mel came to meet me.

Smiling at how much I was able to do without interruptions, happy with my proposal which I will have to pass on to Adian to double check before calling a meeting.

I looked over her shoulder, but Adian and Basil weren't there, I smiled hoping my disappointment didn't show.

"I'll be ready in five minutes," I chuckle tiding my desk before securing all files on my desk in the vault provided.

"My cheesecake" I chuckle running back into the kitchen.

Walking ahead of me, "let me" Gerard says already moving towards the kitchen, leaving me to just take out the light and pick up my keys.

Finally I couldn't take the suspense anymore and I turned to Mel as we sat in the back of Gerard's SUV.

"Where's Adian and Basil?" I asked softly and she frowns at me.

"Uh they didn't say, but Adian did say something about getting somethings for Emmy," Mel explains and I leaned back against the seat, wondering what is the mystery surrounding Emmy, the mystery caller and Adian's private meetings for the past two mornings.

We encountered traffic on our way home as usual, so I pulled out of the the files that I continue to choose randomly.

I continued reading from one of my earlier sessions and got deeply engrossed in it and it's revelations. More importantly are the footnotes my therapist wrote after each session.

"Hailey, let's go" Mel laughs from beside me as she climbs out of the vehicle.

Like a lost girl, I stare at her confused.

"Can you go up?" I suggested to Mel, my smile apologetic. "I forgot something at the office and I really need to get it," I explained.

Surprised for a moment, before shrugging and smiling at me, "sure, see you in a bit with the traffic and all." Mel says shutting the door behind her before making her way to the elevator.

Gerard starts the vehicle and proceeded out of the car park.

I kept my head down on the file in my hands.

My dreams over the years hasn't changed.

Everything I remember as a child, I remember today but the difference is the therapist and her views that I was displaying signs of a potentially troubled child, who lives in a fantasy world constantly making up stories to fill my time.

I was anxious to read from the very beginning of my therapy sessions and I need the privacy to do that.

From the very beginning, they kept saying that I was making up stories, never willing to actually hear me or consider what my dreams were about it.

"We're here."
