Chapter Two Hundred an Sixty Five - Bullying Basil

"Have you called Basil to check up on Emmy?" I asked my husband who appears to be deep in thought.

Staring at Ryan whose also in his own world.

What is going on with them?

Chuckling, Adian turns to me, "she's giving Bas a hard time," Adian informs me.

Surprise, I glower at him, "that's not funny," I retorted. "But why is she giving him a hard time?" I had to ask.

Shrugging, Adian leans back in his chair, "maybe it has something to do with her wanting something or wanting to do something that he doesn't agree with." Adian explains, regarding me cautiously.

"ADIAN!" I protest at how comfortable he sounds at Emmy's behaviour. "We can't let her bully him." I added quickly, turning to Gerard who snickers at the thought of Emmy bullying Basil.

Glaring at him now, "this is not funny," I protested to him also. "She needs timeout when she gets home." I decided. "No Princess Sofia," I told Adian, whose hands were suddenly up in surrender.

"Hey I'm the good dad," Adian responds, much to my annoyance.

Lifting my eyes to Ryan, "please help me out here," I pleaded but like Adian, he lifts his hands up.

"Grandfathers don't discipline, they spoil," he nods at Adian and I, "parents discipline and are ultimately the bad guys." Ryan laughs at my outrageous expression.

Folding my arms I leaned back in my chair, "you guys are spoiling her," I complained to all three of them. "I'm locking the entainment room and disconnecting the cable in her room." I smiled in contentment at my decision.

Yes, Emmy had a difficult childhood but being in a safe environment now doesn't mean she gets her way.

Dragging his chair closer to mines, "we're in this together," Adian promises, "but let her know you have the keys for the entainment room." Pouting his lips, Adian jokes.

Since Ryan took us to lunch, he took the liberty of ordering for us.

The guys stared kidding around about training kids since Gerard had four, while I reminisce about this morning's adventure.

I should be sad but I am not!

Maybe the effects of seeing my mom's grave will hit me when I am alone but knowing where, she and my brother is, was strangely, comforting.

Knowing that she's there taking care of my baby, comforts my heart.

I needed to do some grocery shopping with the list Mrs. Harris left me, so Adian sent Gerard with me, after having lunch while he and his father remained in the restaurant having drinks.

By Adian's guise, I gathered that he wanted time with his father, otherwise he would have followed Gerard and I to the supermarket.

I wasn't downhearted after visiting mom's grave but I am now because of Adian and whatever's troubling him, which happened at the cemetery.

Gerard was pushing a trolley while I shopped from the list in my hand, plus I added what I need for Gerard's family.

I still have shopping to do for Amos and his family but I won't be able to do that with Ryan and Adian waiting.

"What happened at the cemetery to distract, Adian and his father?" I abruptly cut of Gerard's comments of a story he was sharing about one of his kids.

Gerard a former military, is really and expert at hiding his emotions but what I have learnt over the past few months working with him and Basil, when their eyes go bland, they are hiding something.

Knitting his brows together, I sense Gerard was about to play dumb.

"And I already see you're going to make it appear that I am imagining things." I retorted, my response throwing him off.

"If you can't tell me, then that is fine but don't pretend that nothing is bothering them and make me feel like I'm loosing, my mind." I continued, clenching my fists so that I don't explore in the supermarket and make a spectacle of myself.

Nodding, "yes you're right" Gerard responded truthfully. "Like Adian, I have no idea what it is but he's hoping Ryan does," watching me cautiously, hoping I don't flip my switch, Gerard explains.

Calming down, "right, okay!" I muttered, "the truth is better," I nod at Gerard, returning to my list.

I can bet my last cent that he would be reporting this scene between him and I to Adian and I'll be waiting.

As I shopped I wondered what could have happened out of the ordinary at the cemetery.

"Who is the old man, Adian was shaking hands with?" Spinning abruptly, I bumped into the trolley Gerard was pushing.

Gerard frowns and shook his head.

"That's the only thing that happened other than visiting mom," I explained, my brain started ticking as I turned away from a troubled Gerard.

He was at a distant so he may not have heard their conversation so I can't bully him into saying something he doesn't know.

"Oh my God!" I exclaimed turning to bump into the trolley, wincing as I hit my toe.

Curling my lips downwards with an apologetic pout. "I'm behaving like Emmy." I whispered. "I'm trying to bully you." I continue, with my hands against my chest. "I'm sorry." I apologize and turned away, embarrassed.

Chuckling behind me, "guess Adian will be locking the entrainment room from the both of you." Gerard mocks but I ignore him and continued with our shopping in total silence.

As usual, I separated Gerards groceries from mines, took out some cash to drop for Amos and his family until I could return for his shopping and jumped into the back seat to pick up Adian and his father.

Since I didn't have my phone, I couldn't call Basil to check up on Emmy whose clearly taking after me.

Still embarrassed about the way I spoke to Gerard, I kept apologizing until we got to the restaurant where Adian and Ryan stood, side by side awaiting our arrival, their expressions, gloomy.
