Chapter One Hundred and Seventy - Sam's Motive

"Mac, she messaged me, I know who she's meeting with. I'll try to be there soon and you and I need to talk" I barked into the phone, at the security assigned to my stubborn wife.

I know he doesn't know her ways and evading him would have been a piece of cake for her, but he was wise enough to stick with her.

I've no idea what the f**k Samantha's up to, having lunch with my mom and Hailey, but if she's with my mom, she's up to no good.

"Anthony!" I shout out from my office, having left Mel to handle all the important tasks, at Hailey's office.

The door swung open and Caleb, who hates his given name glares at me. My bad moods never affects him.

Chuckling, because he's the only one in this building, whose never afraid to confront me head on.

Bowing mockingly, Caleb enters my office, his hands packed with files, "have you heard from the missus yet?" Caleb asks placing the files on my desk. Strangely, he's taken a likening to Hailey from the first day they met, but then again so did I until I was forced for marry her.

I was such an ass back then, leaving our wedding luncheon and hooking up with Sam.

Samantha? Why is she with my mother and to top it off having lunch with my wife.

I know she's upset that we stopped meeting up after I committed to Hailey, but I have been paying her rent and now her medical bills, since that loser she's with just continues to live for free and has yet to start helping with bill payments, especially with a baby on the way!"

"Earth to Adian!" Caleb sings and I blinked, shaking my head before turning to him.

"Why do you think Sam hooked with my mother to meet Hailey?" I asked him, still deep in thought.

Laughing outrageously, "you're asking me about the mindset of the psycho's you've hooked up with in the past?" Caleb frowns at me, before sitting in a chair opposite me.

"If we know Mac as well as we do, he won't let Hailey anywhere near Mrs. K, unless he's also there. So if Hailey doesn't say anything at first, then Mac surely would have been close enough to know." Caleb winks at me, causing me to fling the pen I was twiddling in my thumbs, at him.

Nodding, realizing my anger caused me to forget these guys know how important Hailey is to me and protecting her is just as protecting me and soon a mini version of me.

Stretching back on my chair, I smiled at Caleb, "I've got something to tell you" I started to say when Caleb cut me across.

Chuckling, Caleb leaned closer to the edge of the desk, "what? That I'm going to be an uncle?" He finishes happily.

Surprise, I nod at him slowly. "She told you?" I asked and then again, I shouldn't, because Caleb is the type of guy who would become anyone's confidante.

Clapping his hands together joyously, "yes she did and I have already started checking up baby stores for our shopping expeditions." He explained and as happy as I should be, I am envious that my PA's already making shopping plans for my wife and our baby."

"Yeah, you're definitely not the one to shop for my kids clothes." I said quickly, tilting my head at his loud blue dress pants with a lighter shade of blue to match, mockingly.

When there are meetings, he would normally cover his outrageous blend with a jacket, but at the end of the day, I don't want either my son or daughter dressing like him.

Caleb started selecting the files on my desk and passes it across to me, indicating that they are the most urgent one.

"On by the way, I got a message from Hailey. She's at the coffee shop on Seventh with Mr. Simon to sign the Reel Connections documents. That's covered." I finally remembered to fill him in Hailey's whereabouts as I threw the Reel Connection file back to him.

Laughingly he looks up at me, "she's sure eating and drinking alot today," he commented, taking back the Reel Connection file to stack separately.

"With the baby and all that, she's bound to pack on some pounds, eventually she'll start looking like your sister," Caleb commented, with his eyes downwards sorting out the files to give me and those to hold.

I stopped at that comment, but when I lifted my head towards Caleb, I realized he was just making a comment because he simply continued with his task on hand, which was sorting out the clients who are on the agenda.

"Hello!" Caleb responded answering my office line after just one ring. "Hold on" he continues handing the phone over to me, with a disgusted expression.

I didn't bother asking who was on the line because he won't give me the call unless he knew I would take it.

"What?" I answered the call, surprised when I heard Samantha's voice on the other end of the line.

"Adian!" She says frantically, "I need to see you, now" she wept.

Samantha's important to me, which is why Caleb didn't question her call, but because of Hailey, he won't like it.

"Sure, but what's wrong?" I asked, even though I knew she along with my mother, met with my wife, which isn't a good thing.

Samantha started sobbing uncontrollably, but didn't explain.

"Samantha, what is it? What's wrong?" I asked with concern, but was cautious for the first time around Samantha because of her meeting with my wife.

"Can we meet somewhere?" She continued sobbing, "maybe at your mother's place?" She suggested, sobbing, but I had a gut feeling that she was up to something and with my mother's involvement, I don't trust her.

Shocked at the location she chose because she know how much my mother despises her.

"Okay!"
