Chapter Hundred and Thirty Four - Confront Amelia

"You insolent bitch!" Mom moved to slap Hailey, but before I could intervene, Bas who already anticipated her move, grab and held her hand mid air.

"Uh, Uh" he chuckles, "not on my watch" Bas said to mom, as she fidgeted in his hold.

Chuckling mockingly, with her eyes on my mother, "Adian what can your mother be so afraid of?" She smiles softly, but by the tight grip on my hands, I know that Hailey's just putting on a brave front as usual.

Shaking her head, as mom tries to wriggle herself out of Bas's grasp, still fuming angrily, "I think the FBI'S case just got more interesting" She was saying and mom, froze! Her face losing all it's color as her feet, suddenly had no strength to stand.

Gerard who was standing nearby helped Bas to lead my almost faint mother to a chair in front of Hailey's desk.

"What?" She whispers faintly, her lips quivering nervously, eyes stuck on my wife's face, in disbelief.

Suddenly she looks around as if she's now woken from a trance, staring at the hand Bas still had on her.

"I need to go" she moves to stand and for a moment I felt as if mom didn't remember what just occurred, until her eyes fell on Hailey once again.

I know that I didn't imagine the cold hostile look that fleetingly passed over her eyes, before she lifted her sad broken eyes to me, silently pleading with me to support her?

With my fingers still entwined with Hailey's, I clutch her tighter and looked down to see her staring at the open doorway, where Jerry stood in shook!

Moving towards my mother, I nod to Jerry who joins me to help her up.

"Jerry's here, he'll escort you downstairs!" I tell her unable to respond kindly to her sad smile. I'm disappointed and right now I need to deal with the truth of the situation between my mother and Hailey's parents.

As she stands, mom moves to hug me but I stood unmovable in front in her.

"Don't let her destroy our family" mom whispers, her head against my chest.

Chuckling dryly in disbelief as she continues to blame Hailey for our problems.

I need to get out of here to absorb this new development concerning my mother and my late mother-in-law.

Taking a deep breath, I turned to Hailey, "jerry and I have an appointment, if I'm not back by four, I'll meet you at home." I kissed her cheeks, not missing the disappointment in her eyes as I followed Jerry, nodding for Bas to follow us.

Bas and I rode down separately from mom and Jerry because my Benz was in the underground carpark.

"Meet you in front" I said walking into the private elevator that's reserved for the Knights directors.

The ride down was in total silence because all I needed right now was an entire bottle of f***ING whiskey not talk. I'm just grateful that Bas understood me like that!

I'm not accustom sharing my frustration with anyone. All I've done in the past is use a slut to release it. Now it's different, now I'm married.

If I didn't take Bas, I'm sure I would be on my way to f**k Sammy, whose always waiting on the side to help ease my frustration.

Hailey's my wife and I can't f**k her like that! With Hailey through, it's always making love.

"Don't make things worst" Bas advises as he walks ahead of me when we exited the elevator.

Ignoring him, I threw my keys across to him and jumped into the backseat, leaving the front passenger seat available for Jerry.

Jerry was already waiting out front for us as Bas pulled in front of him.

He automatically opens the back door, not seeing clearly though the dark heavy tint.

Just as quickly as he opens it, he shuts it, knowing fully well, I need my space.

It's sad, that my bestfriend and my uncle knows me so well, they didn't ask where to, they just drove me to our regular bar, that's always open for f***up guys, as myself.

Seated with a bottle of Jack Daniels in front of us, I raised my glass smiling cynically, "to the p***y whip, f***ed up son of Ryan and Amelia Knights" I chuckle mockingly, downing my shot, shaking my head at the burning sensation. Shrugging my shoulders as I poured myself another shot, ignoring the fact, that I'm the only one drinking.

Jerry raised his shot glass, "to Adian Knights, the husband of the brave and beautiful, Hailey Knights" at which, Bas clinks his shot glass against Jerry's, waiting for me.

"F**k you!" I looked pointedly at the both of them wincing at the sting of the alcohol as it reaches my throat.

Slamming down his full shot glass, Jerry turns to me and glared angrily at me.

I chuckle at his glare because the way he looked at me, I wasn't his friend, but his nephew and in this mode, he will kick my ass or, at least attempt to.

"You guys can leave, I looked up after my fourth shot, still feeling my head, all bolted together and secured. I need more and Jack Daniels isn't the fix I need.

Tilting my head to the exit, "leave" I took another shot. "Go back to work" I waved my hand towards the exit, now wishing I came alone so they won't be trying to c**k block me.

"Not happening" Bas says making me turn to sneer at him.

"Then you're fired" I retorted angrily.

If Bas was shocked at the words that I spewed at him, he didn't show it. He exchanged a look with Jerry, then stood up, pulling the Benz keys out of his pocket and slams it on the table knocking the bottle of Jack Daniels down.

Chuckling, "take it out of my salary and give the remainder to Sammy." With one look at Jerry, my bestfriend walks off.
