Chapter Forty Four - Office Flirting

Hailey's POV

When the elevator got to my floor. Adian decided to get off with me his excuse, is that he has a meeting with Jerry.

"My coffee" I ask Adian, reaching out for it.

Ignoring me, "From now on, get me a cup" Adian says, walking in the direction of my office.

"You're going in the wrong direction" I told him as eyes starting focusing on us.

"I'm meeting Jerry in your office" he explains, walking towards my door with a bunch of keys in his hands, he opened my door with a smirk.

I'm already aware that he has a key, so I didn't say anything as he moves aside for me to proceed into my office.

Following me inside, Adian left the door open, as he walked into the kitchen, coming back out with a bottle water and my coffee still in his hands.

Taking a seat, in the chair in front of my desk, while I stood behind my desk awkwardly.

Looking around, "so you didn't go shopping yesterday" Adian observed, "when next do you plan to go shopping?' Adian asks, shifting in the chair taking his wallet out of his pocket.

"Opening it, he takes a card out handing it over to me.

Frowning, "Am, . it's.. am, it's okay, " Why's he giving me a bank card?

"Jerry said that he'll re-emburse me when I shop for the office" I told him, noticing his hurt expression.

Deciding that I need to share things about myself with Adian. Maybe not all at once, but I need to share.

Sitting down, I stared at him, wondering how to start this conversation.

"Adian I need to tell you something, I'm not sure about ev .."

"Morning folks, sorry I'm late. I'm aware that we need to prep for today's meeting" Jerry walked into the office, unaware that he interrupted what was about to be a very meaningful conversation.

Lifting his eyes from the papers he was sorting out in his hands, staring at the, Adian and I as we sat quietly, staring at each other.

"Am I interrupting something here?" Jerry, ask me with a concern expression.

"No!" I said while Adian says "yes" at the same time.

Instantly coming to my defence, "What did he do this time?" Jerry ask, while giving Adian an accusing look.

"Why are you always accusing me of doing something to her" Adian defending himself, accuse Jerry.

Not wanting them to get into a war of words, "don't you have a meeting to arrange for?" I ask, looking at the both of them.

"We're here for the meeting" Jerry said, sitting down and handing the files in his hands over to Adian, whose instantly into a different mode.

He straightened up in the chair, eyes focus on what he was reading, jaws clenched, with firm lips.

"This is not acceptable" Adian said seriously, "and I'm not endorsing it" Adian declares firmly.

Chuckling "I told them, but I obligated to pass it on to you," Jerry shrugged.

"I know" Adian responds to Jerry before turning to me.

"The board will question you about your deal with Simon and how the deal went down. Unless you slept with him to get the deal, then you're not bound by any code to reveal your tactics." Adian tells to as Jerry erupts in anger and I express my hurt over this comment.

How could he,, after this morning. Standing up angrily, I stormed off to my washroom to hide and get away from that idiot I allowed to kiss me this morning. The idiot to whom I give my first kiss.

A few minutes later, there was a soft knock, but it was Jerry at the door, not the guy I wanted.

Walking back to my office, "The idiot is gone" uncle Jerry says.

Sitting in the chair Adian occupied before, "why?"

Chuckling, "technically he was preparing you for the meeting. and Adian did what Adian does best. Mishandle the situation." Jerry said.

Confused, "I don't understand. Is that what they are going to accuse me of doing?"

Nodding embarrass, they are vultures in there,." Jerry mutters loudly.

Handing the papers from earlier to me, "Adian wants to see you work out a deal with the company on the title file, that will benefit us, while keeping the client's proposal in mind." Jerry explains the purpose if the file.

Nodding, "where's Adian? I need to speak to him. it's important" I tell Jerry nervously.

With a curious expression, "what happen between you guys?" Jerry ask worried.

"I .. want to make an appointment for him to go with me to visit Mr. Knox." I said lying.

With a guilty look, "Didn't Knox call you?" Jerry asks.

"No. Something happened?" I asked concern.

Sensing the change in me, "no, no, everything is okay. It's just that he went on a short vacation for about three weeks, I think. " Jerry said, leaving me wondering, why would Mr. Knox leave and not tell me. Tears started welling up.

"Hailey, it's okay, .he'll be back in two to three weeks and the last thing he would want, is you worrying when you should be kicking more ass at Sullaknights." Jerry chuckles.

"And before I forget, what happened yesterday between you and Ms. Stewart?" Frowning, having no idea who he means, "the lady you told to f**k off" Jerry chuckles.

Remembering, I went on explaining to him what happened from the moment I stepped of the elevator.

Laughing, "I'll have that corrected this morning" Jerry promise.

As much as I wanted to ask about Adian, I couldn't, so I have to suck it in until I see him. The least he could have done was tell me why he ask that question. The way he asked, I thought it was him asking. I'm not at fault here, but at least he gave me another assignment. At least he believes in me.
