CHAPTER- 16 WHAT'S THE 'SECRET' ?

Lawrence and other family members were having the good time while talking about the past and their experiences. Then Mrs. Carson and Mrs. Remington went upstairs to check on both the girls. And everyone else went to dining room except Lawrence stay in main hall to wait for them. After few minutes Mrs. Carson and Isabelle came down and told them Mrs. Remington is waiting for Alice to get changed and they will come together. Mrs. Carson looked towards Lawrence and asked, "laurey, do you have a lot of work at your office right now? Alice said she needs to go back office. Ahhh poor girl she has to miss her lunch for the sake of safety of us. I really like to have lunch with her" Lawrence give a smile to her mom and said in affectionate tone, "well; we do have a lot of work. I completely forget about it. That's good Alice remembered about it. We need to go back mom. Where she is? Why she is taking so much time? We are already late. I will get her mom, everyone went to dining hall. You also join them. I will talk you later okay (he looked toward Isabelle and said to her) you too Isabelle, we will catch on later." He said goodbye to both of them and went upstairs to get Alice. He was going to enter the room when he heard the voice of someone shouting and crying. He recognizes the voice of Alice and opens the room. He saw Alice standing near the gate, her face and eyes were red. Then he looked over and saw her aunt rose standing little far near the bed. He heard everything about "mom" and all when he was entering the room but he behave like he doesn't know anything and went over to aunt rose and said, "aunt rose, we have to go now. Sorry for not having lunch together and celebrating the comeback of Isabelle. Then excuse us" Mrs. Remington nods because she knew that Lawrence had heard everything and its better if talk about this at calm environment and alone. She left the room and gives her card Alice and said, "We will talk about this later. Give me a call when you're free." Alice takes the card and made a nod in agreement.

Lawrence was confused about what she was talking about her being real belle and all. He remembered at hospital she was behaving strangely. He turned back and looked towards her. Her face was red like a tomato. Anyone can easily know after looking her face that she was crying and a lot. He wants to ask her about everything but he has not the heart to do so after looking at her. He walked towards her and said, "Let's go, we can't have lunch here. I have work to do. I will drop you at your apartment." Alice looked towards him and agreed. Both of them left the mansion. Alice waited for Lawrence to bring the car. She was confused about all the things happened earlier inside the mansion. She was sure that her mom knows something about this strange situation. But what makes her confuse more that this guy what is his motivate of helping her. She was sure that he heard their conversation. But why he is not asking anything to her. Lawrence bring the car, rolled down the window's glass and said, "Get on; you need to give rest to your leg." Alice went the other side and took the front seat. He rolled up the window's glass and smiled feeling satisfied with the choice of seat.

Lawrence decides to make an attempt to get answer of his questions and asked Alice while driving, "hmm Alice, can I ask you a question? Of course, if you don't mind." Alice already knew what he wants to ask. And now it's a matter of time that she also makes a progress about how does he know Isabelle. When she never had any friend named as him in her life. But she decided to postpone the face-off with him now and said with plain tone, "Go on" Lawrence looked towards her through the mirror at front and said, "perhaps did you having loss of memory issue?" he tried to look for any changes in the Alice but notice known. Alice looked towards him directly and said, "No, I have my full memory." Lawrence again asked her, "so, if you want to go Remington's mansion. Why did you give me your address to drop you off? You can directly give me the address of Remington's." Alice again replied plainly, "Because I want to go there alone." The environment becomes awkward in the car after her direct reply. Then Lawrence changed the topic and said, "You can join after taking a rest for a week. Because we all want you recover first completely before coming back." Alice knew that if you want to know what was happening here it is better if she get some knowledge about real Alice. So, she can survive as her first then she can find out the motive of people behind all this nonsense. She replied with calm tone, "no need to do so. I am joining from tomorrow. I am already better now." Lawrence wants her to take a leave for a week or more because he wants to wind up the current case before her comeback. Everyone in unit 1 is suspicious of Alice after they got a clue that Alice made a deal with those mafias before encounter. And all this was a planned by her to help them in running from police. But unit2 have a complete opposite say in all this. They believed that Alice got some evidence from them and she knows that her life and her partner's will be in danger that's why she asked for the backup. So, he decided to windup the case before her comes back. But now the situation has changed.

They reached at the front of her apartments building. Alice said thank you and bid her goodbye to him like before once again and went to her building without even looking back. Lawrence stayed at the front of her building for a long time. He was confused about her behaviour and what happened back with aunt rose. He didn't able to make any sense what we heard back there. But one thing was same between Alice and Isabelle. After going in comma, the colour of their eyes and hair changed completely. But he heard from her mom that usable had black hair and blue eyed. But what he saw today was blonde hair and green eyes. And same goes for Alice, in her I-card she had blonde hairs and green eyes but now she have black her hair and blue eyes. And the colour differences are same she got her black in exchange of her blonde hair and same with their eyes. And about what he heard back at mansion that Alice was referring her as Isabelle. And when they met at the first time in the lift, she also said that these are her real hair and eyes, she is no detective and her family has a strong background. He shuffled his hair badly and looked towards the 5th floor. The lights were on because now it's already dark outside. His phone vibrated on his pocket. He took out the phone and look at the screen which was flashing the name 'detective Steve finely'.
