Ready to lead

 “Order!” a man from the high table shouted at the crowd and there was a great silence. 

The spiritual head motions, and a man from his right hand step forward with a scroll, he gave an account of what Alex doesn’t understand, after which a man was dragged in from the front door, and all eyes turned to the man as he keeps begging for his life.

They made the man kneels before the spiritual head.

“Please forgive me, I will not do it again” he pleaded but a knife came down on his neck and he was beheaded.

“What the fuck!” Alex yell, and all eyes turned to him.

“Uh… I’m sorry” Alex said when he saw everyone staring at him.

They all turn away from him and other men came forward to take away the body of the dead man, while the man with the scroll continues reading.

They brought in a woman with two kids. And she was again pleading for her life.

“No way!” Alex muttered and tries to get up.

“What are you doing?” Zack grabs him and pulls him down.

“They’re going to kill that woman and her kids!” Alex said grinding his teeth as he speaks.

“Sit down Alex, if they’re killed, it then means that they committed a grievous crime.” He said to Alex speaking in a very low tone.

“Fuck!” he curse and sat down.

The man reading the scroll continue and the knife came down on both woman and the two kids.

 Alex was so furious now.  “What kind of people are these? I can’t lead such heartless people” he muttered.

He got up to leave but the man with the scroll, called out his full name and he turned in a flash to look at him.

“What did I do?” he ask but not so loud.

“Step forward Alex,” The Spiritual head said but Alex stood still where he is.

But for the first time Alex saw Vampire, he motioned for him to step forward and he reluctantly did.

He was almost stepping on the blood of those people that were killed, he started to panic.

The spiritual head looked at the man with the scroll and he started reading again.

“Alex, it is stated here that you are nominated to be the head of the clan,” the spiritual head said.

But Alex didn’t answer him, and there was murmuring all over the place.

“Order!” the spiritual head yell and there was dead silence.

“Alex I will ask you for the last time which is against our rules here, I will not repeat myself”

Vampire nods his head at him and he turned to look at Zack, he did the same and Alex said “yes” when his eyes met with Lincoln.

The man looked at Alex as he was having a hard time stepping on the blood of those people and wondered if he can do this.

He keeps shaking and trying to step away from the blood, but the man with the scroll always points him back to the spot.

"Alex are you sure you are ready for this?” the spiritual head asks him and he nods.

“You don’t nod, you speak” he reminds him.

"Yes, I'm ready" Alex said but not too sure.
