Why Wouldn't I?

Casey didn't know how he made it through to Thursday without getting into an accident with how out of it he was. Kane didn't even see him leave (probably watching Netflix again) and he headed over to Vera's apartment to help her carry the pies to her car. 

The host of this Friendsgiving lived in a big house in Redmond and had two teenaged children. Vera hadn't mentioned that earlier. It must have slipped her mind when she was mentioning who would be there. Either that or she hadn't been aware that Pete had kids herself.

He didn't have any experience with children but these two seemed content to hang out at the corner of the table and talk among themselves. He probably wouldn't be expected to participate in their conversation. 

Pete and his wife Kay weren't surprised to see him there but everyone else seemed surprised that Vera brought someone. One of the people looked familiar and squinted at Casey.
