She quickly called a taxi over and rushed over to the set.
She arrived just in time, and Mila was impatiently waiting for her outside.
"There is only one bad thing about you living with Lu Chenjun. You're always late."
Elena lightly flicked Mila's head and walked in, "I'm not late, I'm on time. Lu Chenjun was taking revenge on me, so he left without me. I should take back the car that I gave to you."
Mila pouted and crossed her arms, "What a petty person!"
Lu Chenjun couldn't focus on his work. He would stare at his computer screen, his mind wandering off to the memories of when he was young.
Before long, it was already 4 P.M., and Lu Chenjun got ready to leave for the airport.
Fang Shi was told to finish his work and go home by himself. Lu Chenjun drove by himself to the Jin Province International Airport.
When he arrived, it was close to five o'clock. He quickly found the gate to wait for arrivals from France.
He found a chair and sat down, reading through emails on his phone. He looked up every so often, but it seemed as if the flight was running late. He slowly began to focus on his work and didn't realize when the passengers had already arrived.
As he was replying to an email, from the corner of his eyes, he saw a pair of high heels stop right in front of him.
He looked up and found himself face-to-face to the only girl he had ever loved with all his heart, Chu Hua.
Did he still love her?
Chu Hua smiled at Lu Chenjun's surprised expression and sat down next to him.
She had beautiful, big eyes, and her long hair was dyed a stunning chestnut brown. Her eyes sparkled as she looked at Lu Chenjun. In nine years, his body had grown to be more manly, and his face had become more handsome.
It didn't seem like Lu Chenjun would open his mouth first, so Chu Hua spoke.
"Did you miss me?" Her voice was sweet and gentle, and it made Lu Chenjun's heart flutter.
He furrowed his brows and avoided the question, "Why did you come back?"
Chu Hua raised one eyebrow before looking down with a smile, "I didn't think that the first thing you would say to me would be that."
Lu Chenjun didn't know how to respond or feel. She had left so suddenly, and now she had come back so suddenly.
"What did you expect me to say?"
Chu Hua thought for a moment.
"Why don't we go eat first? I'm hungry from the long plane ride. You still remember that I don't like airplane food, right?"
Lu Chenjun gave a small nod before standing up. He pulled over Chu Hua's luggage and walked towards his car.
Chu Hua followed him, her smile disappearing from her face.
She was worried. Even if Lu Chenjun had loved her before, it has still been nine years already.
'What if his feelings have changed towards me?'
She opened the door to the passenger's seat and sat down. During the car ride, she didn't say anything.
Lu Chenjun broke the silence, "Why didn't your mom come back with you?"
Chu Hua's eyes seemed to fill up with tears as she looked down, "She died about a month ago."
Lu Chenjun frowned and looked at her.
"She died from a drug overdose."
"I'm sorry."
Chu Hua wiped her eyes and shook her head, "You didn't know. It's okay, I'm used to it."
Her dad had died from cancer when she was only two years old, and her mom didn't have a job so she couldn't support her. They were able to get by with the support of Lu Chenjun's family. His dad was best friends with her dad and helped her mom and her a lot during their most difficult time.
However, Chu Hua's mom completely changed. Devastated by the death of her husband, she resorted to the use of drugs to fill up the void in her heart. Most of the money Lu Chenjun's dad gave them went to purchasing drugs or paying back debts that her mom had accumulated through gambling.
The car came into a stop in front of Zuanji Steakhouse, and Lu Chenjun helped open the car door for Chu Hua.
In the restaurant, the whole situation turned awkward. Chu Hua didn't eat a lot, and Lu Chenjun didn't really want to make eye contact with her.
Chu Hua took a gulp of water and looked up, "I missed you, Chenjun."
He laughed, "You left so suddenly and came back so suddenly. Don't you think it's kind of fake to say you missed me now?"
Chu Hua looked at him pitifully, "I'm really not lying. I came back for you, I really missed you."
Her tone was getting louder, and she sounded almost desperate. She wasn't lying, she did come back for him.
She took a deep breath and said quietly, "I still love you, Chenjun."
Lu Chenjun furrowed his eyebrows and didn't respond. He took a bite of the food although he had no appetite.
"Chu Hua, I have a girlfriend."
She smiled, not really seeming to care.
"Although these years I have been in France, I'm still up to date on the news here. I know you switch girlfriends almost every two weeks. You don't care about any of them, you're just trying to replace me."
Lu Chenjun frowned at this comment, "That's true. However, I think that I truly like my present girlfriend."
Chu Hua's confidence decreased as she dropped her head.
"You promised that you would save your heart for me."
Lu Chenjun had run all the way to the Chu Family's house when he heard the news that Chu Hua was leaving for France with her mom. They had just been dating for a little over one year and she was leaving.
He found her in the garden sitting on the bench, her face emotionless. He quickly walked over and sat down next to her.
"Why are you going to France?"
Chu Hua jumped at his voice, "When did you get here?"
"That isn't really important right now. Why are you leaving?"
Chu Hua looked down at her shoes, "My mom has something to do there. I have to leave."
Lu Chenjun grabbed her hands, "You can stay. I'll take care of you here. My parents will also take care of you."
Chu Hua pulled her hands away, her eyes filled with tears, "You know I have to leave."
"Aren't you scared that when you come back, my heart will be gone with someone else."
Chu Hua flinched at this comment, "I will be back soon. Will you save your heart for me?"
Lu Chenjun stared at Chu Hua for a long time before giving her a nod.
---
Back inside the Zuanji Steakhouse, Lu Chenjun suddenly remembered their conversation nine years ago.
He thought for a second and said, "I did promise you that."
"Then why didn't you keep your promise?"
Lu Chenjun didn't say anything. Maybe he did keep the promise. Did he truly love Elena, or is his heart still with Chu Hua?
Chu Hua could see the confusion in Lu Chenjun's eyes. She stood up and walked over to him.
Her eyes were filled with anticipation as she whispered, "Break up with her."
Lu Chenjun knit his eyebrows together as he studied Chu Hua's face. Finally, he turned away and nodded.
