Bang!
My head hit the underside of Gabriel's desk as I ducked down, barely catching myself before I cursed out loud.
Footsteps and laughter drifted into the office, and I scrambled to keep quiet, pressing myself back as far as I could under the table, which, as I noticed, wasn't exactly dust-free. The area beneath the desk was cramped, a maze of stray cables and years-old dust bunnies clinging to the corners.
The faint scent of cheap cologne clung to the space, probably remnants of Gabriel's all-too-frequent visits to his office after hours.
Just as I adjusted my position, a pair of legs stepped into view, followed by another. Jessica and Gabriel.
"This office is way too quiet without me," Gabriel drawled, and then I heard the thud as he set Jessica down on the desk.
