Mr Lancaster lies
Sharon was still discussing with Shaw when she heard the gunshot also.
"What was that? "she asked curiously.
"I think it is a gunshot." Shaw replied calmly. He was almost sure Angelo has been killed.
"Oh my goodness""Did they kill him in cold blood?" Sharon exclaimed holding her mouth.
"We can't assume anything. Maybe it was just a shot to scare him. I will find out and report back to you." Shaw said trying to leave.
"No! I am coming with you. I want to see things for myself "Sharon stubbornly said.
"You can't go with me. Dad will not be pleased with me taking you along."
"Who said I was going with you? "Sharon said as she makes attempt to brush Shaw aside.
"I am going ahead of you" she said running away.
Before Shaw could say anything to stop her she was gone. Shaw decided it was better to stay behind than go after her. He didn't want his dad to see her with him to avoid him getting all the blame.
She got there just in time to see Mr Lancaster and Mr Huffington leaving the room.
"What happened to him, I heard a gunshot and came running down here" she asked suspiciously almost out of breath.
"Nothing my dear. The gunshot you heard was warning shot to make him talk." Mr Lancaster replied her.
"Do you mean to say he is still alive?" She asked again to be sure.
"Yes he is. I would have shown him to you but he is in a very bad shape now. I don't want you to see him in such a messed up state." Mr Lancaster replied her nervously.
"I hopes she will not insist to see him" he said to himself.
"I will like to see him." Sharon said stubbornly.
"You should trust me i won't lie to you" Mr Lancaster said walking towards her.
Seeing him walk towards her Sharon decides to change her mind.
"Alright I believe you. I will head back to my room now." Sharon said moving away.
She wasn't convinced but she knows she Won't be allowed inside the room. So she pretends to go away with an intention to come back.
"Why did you lie to her? " Mr Huffington asks his friend after Sharon left.
"I am protecting her the lesser she knows the better for her." Mr Lancaster replied without an expression on his face.
"I feel we owe the truth to our children at anytime" Mr Huffington said.
"Yes you are right but she is not my child." He said with a scoff.
At that moment Shaw works in.
He stares at his father and his friend. He didn't know who to ask about the gunshot he heard. He tried walking to the door when his father voice stopped him.
"He is dead. There is no need for that. Arrange for men to come get his body." Mr Lancaster informed him.
Shaw stopped in his track and quickly made calls for the body to be carried away.
He wasn't surprised about the death of Angelo. He knew chances were very slim that he will leave there alive but what he didn't know was why they were attacked.
"Dad did he say anything before he died? " Shaw finally asked his dad.
"Yes he did and they are not pleasant things. The man in there is a member of the stardom cartel."
The stardom cartel? Shaw asked obviously puzzled. He looks from his father to Mr Huffington expecting a further explanation from them.
"Yes son." Mr Lancaster replied him.
Who are they and what do they want with us.?
Mr Lancaster quickly ran through the history of the stardom cartel and the reason they came to attack them leaving Shaw in total shock. Shaw was highly devastated. He couldn't believe all that was happening was as a result of his one mistake.
"Don't worry Shaw, it is no longer your problem. It is now our problem. I have always looked for a way to repay the Dickson's family for how they treated your mom. I guess the opportunity has presented itself. We will handle it " he said tapping Shaw on his shoulders asif reading his mind.
"Just do me a Favour. Make sure no one knows about what happened here. I don't want unnecessary tension in the house. Tell those men to hurry up and get this body from the house. You can tell your siblings we released him without getting anything from him." Mr Lancaster said walking away with his friend.
They were going to plan their next line of action.
