When Best Friends Fight....

ELORA AND NADINE'S APARTMENT

11:00PM

She was a young and beautiful blonde, with firm teal eyes and a natural skin glow that made her the envy of most women she had met in her life. Standing at five foot eight, she had that perfect body size thick enough to look temptingly sexy in a swimwear. In other words, she was just incredibly stunning.

Nadine couldn't help but shake her head in disgust as to why Derek would just want to bang and dump an angel like that.

"Aren't you gonna watch TV?" Elora chuckled, her voice was smooth like honey and was very pleasing to the ears, "I couldn't help but notice that you've been staring at me since you came back from work."

"Haha," Nadine laughed, "Is it that obvious?"

"Yes!" Elora returned the laughter. "Is something wrong?"

'Should I tell her? Should I not?' Nadine asked herself as she looked at her pretty friend who was lying on her couch, long smooth legs stretched in front of her. She certainly wouldn't want to hurt this gentle soul by breaking this horrible news to her but she knew that it would be much worse if she found out herself and it may be too late then– Derek would've gotten away with it.

"Look here, Nadi," Elora said softly, "we've been friends for so long that I know when something's bothering you."

Nadine looked at Elora with a sad gaze that said, 'you'd probably not like what you're about to hear right now.'

"Come on, speak up." Elora encouraged her.

"I..." Nadine opened her mouth to speak but she couldn't just manage to find the words to convey her thoughts properly, "ah.... Nevermind."

She knew how much Elora loved Derek, his cuteness, the romantic dates, the love and support, the gentleman façade, everything! She'd be damned if she thought that Elora would believe her so she decided to keep her mouth shut. With a big, fake smile, she said, "Never mind."

"Does it have something to do with why you came home late from work today?"

"Not really."

"Then what?"

Nadine sighed.

"I overheard Derek and Finn talking today..."

Elora raised an eyebrow in confusion, "So...?"

"They were talking about you."

Elora's gaze quickly changed to that of wariness.

"Derek said that he didn't love you, and that he's only dating you because he wants to sleep with you..." Nadine paused to see Elora's reaction and was surprised to see her listening calmly, "he also said that you're saintly and too pious."

'Maybe I shouldn't have added that last bit.' Nadine thought,

"Hahahaha" Elora laughed heartily but when she noticed that Nadine wasn't laughing, she stopped and stared suspiciously at her.

"You're joking right?"

'I know I shouldn't have told her,' Nadine thought, 'she obviously won't believe me. After all, she thinks their relationship is even stronger than Bonnie and Clyde's, it'd take more than unconfirmed truths to make her see wrong in him.'

"Yeah... I was simply joking, forget I ever mentioned it."

"How can you say I should just forget it? How can I just forget it when you've said something like that against my boyfriend. Nadine, you're supposed to be my best friend and you decided to cook up this lie and then tell me to not mind you again..."

"Okay, it's true." Nadine confirmed,

"You're lying."

Nadine was slightly taken aback by Elora's next words.

"Sorry?"

"The Derek I love would never say something as nasty as that. It's just not possible."

"I know it sounds bizarre but believe me, even I too would've had a hard time believing it if I didn't hear it from his mouth."

"Why are you lying Nadi?"

The mood in the room had suddenly become tensed and hostile.

"What sort of question is that?"

"Someone who just wants to sleep with me won't take me to see his parents Nadi!" Elora's voice was gaining volume, "Someone who just wants to sleep with me won't sleep outside my door because I was angry with him! So tell me Nadi, why are you lying?"

"I...I... I'm not lying." Nadine didn't know how she would explain to Elora that she was telling the truth.

"Are you jealous Nadi?" Elora's voice was now filled with contempt, "Jealousy? Is that it Nadi?"

"No! What are you talking about?"

"Honestly, I can't think of any reasonable excuse as to why you would come up with such blasphemous lies to pitch me against my boyfriend. I thought we were best friends Nadi, you're supposed to want the best for me. It isn't my fault that you and Peter didn't work out, you guys were just never meant to be or maybe you're just destined to be single your entire life!"

Peter was Nadine's ex boyfriend.

"I want the best for you! That's why I'm telling you this. Derek isn't the righteous man that you think he is. And don't bring Peter into this."

"Oh shut the fuck up Nadine!"

Nadine was shocked! In their entire five years of friendship, Elora had never insulted her with such intense emotion. They had quarrelled a few times, here and there, but this was the first time that Elora had actually insulted her with hatred and rage burning in her eyes.

"Are you talking to me?" Nadine shot back.

"Yes I'm talking to you, you two-faced, jealous bitch. I can see now, you want Derek for yourself but let me tell you something, he is mine and no street slut like you will be able to take him away from me, even if you spin lies thick enough to trap a trailer."

"I can see there's no talking sense into you," Nadine said angrily, she was sad, pissed off and disappointed that her best friend didn't believe her because she was so intoxicated with her boyfriend's fake love. "Maybe when you've calmed down, I want you to think about what I've said. I just hope you come to your senses before he breaks your heart."

"Just get out! I don't want to see your face right now, you make me sick!" Elora yelled in anger as she she stood and watched as Nadine left the house with a bag of her clothes at eleven pm in the night and no one's house to go to, but Elora was too angry to mind, she just didn't want to see Nadine at that moment.
