A rude awakening

"Psst Ciel, wake up class is starting soon." someone tapped him on the shoulder. "wait what..?" the youth named Ciel mumbled as he wiped the sleep out of his eyes.

"what class is starting soon? Where even is this!? I never applied for university. Last I remember I fell asleep on the couch!" Ciel thought to himself "this must be a dream, right?". As he abruptly stood up in confusion, someone walked through the door.

Everyone became quiet and instantly found their seats. Everyone except Ciel that is, as he looked dumbfounded on the little girl at the front of the room.

As soon as Ciel was about to laugh, the little girl gave him a fierce glance. When she did, Ciel felt an unimaginable pressure on his shoulders, which made him fall back into the chair.

He was spaced out, utterly dumbfounded. "why are you still just sitting there Ciel, prepare your books!" the girl, or what appears to be the teacher yelled at him.

"uhhh, I seem to have forgotten my books, can I read with someone else?" Ciel stuttered as he remembered the line he always had used before.

"fine, since it's the first, and the LAST time you forget your books, I'll let it slide. Go sit with Darius. " the teacher said

Ciel looked around and saw the guy who told him to wake up smiling at him and waving for him to come. Darius was a bulky piece of muscle, with short spiky red hair.

Ciel quickly moved over, afraid of another weird punishing. Sitting down and looking at the weird massive book in front of him, he gulped.

"aight class, a quick announcement before we start, next week Tuesday we're going on an expedition to the Toph wall, so everyone find a partner or two to work together with. now turn to page 666, today we'll be learning about the history of forbidden blood magics." the teacher said as she somehow wrote it on the blackboard without even moving a finger. There were all sorts of scribbles that Ciel didn't recognize, but in some unexplainable way seemed to understand.

"Hey Darius, my old precious golden good friend, can you tell me what the Toph wall is?" Ciel whispered. Darius looked at him like he was a moron "did you hit your head or something?" he whispered. When he noticed Ciel was still looking at him in confusion he continued "you alright bud? the Toph wall is the main wall that keeps us safe from the beasts?" Darius looked at him with eyes of worry.

"haha yeah I'm alright, just having a forgetful day, that's all" Ciel laughingly whispered. "as if you could ever forget something" Darius mumbled back while he was flipping through the pages, hiding a slight look of jealousy.

"eh?" Ciel responded, thinking he hadn't heard him correctly "I forget things all the time, why do you think I dropped out." he thought to himself.

Both Darius and Ciel suddenly felt a pressure around them, as if they were being looked at by a demon. Looking up, they noticed the teacher staring at them as she floated in the air. it felt like time stood still, and that they were slowly freezing. After finally being let go, they quickly shut up and started paying attention.

Ciel was both terrified and amazed by this weird dream he was having, it all felt so real.

Being weirded out by all the dreamlike things happening around him, and all the symbols in the books and on the magical blackboard that he had never seen before, yet still seemed to understand the class continued.
