There, she comes across the most breathtaking man ever and discovers he was her soulmate, but he turns out to be soulmates with her elder sister, and rejects her at once. Mara wasn’t happy, but her sister’s happiness came first, so she took the rejection in one stride and went her way. Three-hundred years old Lord Klaus is a very ruthless and feared Vampire King, a dark soul that loves orderliness as much as he loves power. Mara is a huge disruption in his perfectly outlined life, ruining a lot of plans with her sudden presence, and he hates her so much because of that, making him determined to make her life a living hell. With feelings managing to bloom in the most unexpected and complicated situation, falling in love just couldn’t be helped, nor avoided. But when centuries-old secrets and truths start to unravel, Mara realizes that her whole life might be a lie, resulting in life-threatening dangers arising, thrusting not only Mara into the midst of it, but also Klaus. It was intense, gruesome, life-altering, and chaos was bound to happen. What’s going to happen to Mara? ~~~ EXCERPT ~~~ “Why don’t you just let me die? Why?! Dammit, why?” He took in a single breath before responding. “Because I wanted to kill you myself.” “Oh, yeah?” She sneered. “Do it then! Fucking kill me.” He cocked his head and scoffed. “Maybe if you ask nicely next time like a good girl, I’ll consider doing it.” He inched closer, backing her against the wall until there was nowhere she could run to. He lifted a hand and wrapped it around her throat, which he used in briskly tugging her face close to his. “But, for now, you’re gonna have to stay alive. Not because I give a fuck whether you live or not, but because I know that staying alive is a bigger punishment to you than death.”

The Kiss

Mara's POV

He pulled the door open for me to walk in which I found very gentlemanly of him but I found it strange when he whispered strange words into my ear.

"Go ahead," he said as I looked at him with raised brows but did just that.

As I made my way through the grand entrance, a sense of anticipation and excitement filled the air, for I knew that I was about to embark on a journey like no other.

The restaurant was adorned with elegant decor and bathed in soft, ambient lighting, exuding an aura of sophistication.

This place was crazy artistic. Why would he get me here? What was going on?

The crystal chandeliers cascaded from the ceiling, casting a gentle glow that danced upon the polished marble floors. The walls were adorned with tasteful artwork, creating an ambiance of refined elegance.

I looked behind me to see him smiling at me as I wondered why he would get me here.

"What is going on?" I asked as he looked at a waiter who nodded to him.

Now I knew something was going on.

"Let's sit here," he said before drawing open the chair, waiting for me to sit as he sat on his own.

We were the only ones in the restaurant which I found weird.

Soft music played in the background as the waiters walked around making sure the rest of the tables were arranged,

"Are we the only ones in here because you're here?" I asked as he looked around before shrugging.

"Probably."

That was a very vague answer but it was Klaus so I didn't mind.

Seated at the luxurious table, I was greeted with impeccable service and when I told the waiter my order he paid serious attention to detail asking me questions about what I wanted.

The waitstaff were all dressed in elegant attire and they moved with grace and precision, attending to my every need with a genuine warmth and professionalism.

Their knowledge of the menu and their ability to recommend the perfect pairing for each course only added to the sense of indulgence.

I knew they were doing this because of their king. The leader of the vampires had to be the only reason why I was getting this much attention from them.

"Can I get this one?" I pointed to one I could not pronounce as I didn't know what it was.

"I see you want to try out new food," smiled klaus.

"And how do you know I haven't tasted it before?"

"You would have called it."

"I might have eaten it but not known its name."

He nodded looking at the waiter.

"Get her a sample so she would go through it and know if she likes it or not."

The waiter nodded and zipped to the kitchen.

Within minutes, the food was brought before me and I started a taste run.

My senses were tantalized by a symphony of culinary delights. The food was a testament to the chef's artistry and dedication to the craft.

"I love it!" I said excitedly before more of the meal was dropped on the table.

From delicate seafood creations to succulent cuts of meat, every dish was meticulously crafted to showcase the finest ingredients and techniques.

With each course that graced our table, I was transported to a realm of culinary bliss.

The flavors melted upon my palate, a harmonious blend of tastes that delighted my senses.

The presentation was a work of art, each dish arranged with vibrant colors and intricate garnishes, a feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds.

"Thank you for this wonderful meal," I said to him as he mumbled but still ate from his plate.

He didn't like to talk while eating. That I had noticed, however, he would have to break that rule if I was going to be around him for much longer.

As I savored each bite, the attentive staff ensured that my dining experience was nothing short of extraordinary. After all, their king was here. He would have their head if I didn't like anything they did.

They effortlessly gave the service, seamlessly moving from one course to the next, ensuring that my glass was never empty and my every desire was met with a smile.

The wonders of the restaurant, combined with the exceptional meal and impeccable service, created an atmosphere of pure peace.

In between courses, I took a moment to soak in the surroundings, basking in the luxury and the beauty that I had been granted entrance into this culinary sanctuary.

It was all thanks to the king who had decided that being here was a great opportunity to spend his time with me.

While I ate, I noticed that the air between us was tense with passion and longing as he ate me up with his eyes.

He wanted me. I could see it in the way he drank me up without thinking.

"You know I can see you," I smiled at him as he nodded.

"And I don't expect anything less from someone so beautiful."

Those words made me blush but I caught myself and decided to get back to reality.

"You were the one who got me this outfit. You're making it look like I chose it."

"I thought you would have worn the blood red dress."

"The black dress was my choice. I like it. It has a dark tinge to it that shows the darkness of one's soul."

I finished my drink as a waiter filled it up and zipped out.

I was impressed with their service and looked back at him.

"Are they going to keep filling up my glass any time I finish this?"

He nodded. "That is their only job."

We ate in silence with mind words being spoken between us but no one having the gods to say anything.

Just then, the feelings between us got higher and higher as he leaned in and kissed me on the lips, catching me off guard.
