In the following month,
Long Chen led 300,000 soldiers from Jiangdong to battle against the number one general Ji Ling under the command of Yuan Shu in Nanyang Commandery within Yuzhou.
First, Zhao Zilong from Changshan commanded a light cavalry corps of 15,000 troops, launching a surprise attack from the rear of Xinyang County, stabbing at the backside of Ji Ling’s army.
In this battle, Zhao Yun was like a celestial deity descending to earth, his silver armor and white helmet standing out amidst the hundred thousand troops as if he were in an uninhabited realm.
Soldiers who were fortunate enough to have experienced that battle recalled:
