February 2005...

The school was so big, it looked like 2 of their apartment combined.

The school's walls were made of red bricks. The first thing you'll notice when you look at the school is that it looked like 2 big towers were joined together to form it. There was also a long stairway you have to climb to actually enter the building. The school looked so big if you stood at the end of the stairway.

'Wow. Is this really the school I'm going to be attending?' Savannah thought to herself as she stared at the school in disbelief.

Savannah wasn't done admiring the school when she felt a slight tap on her shoulder. Feeling alerted, she quickly looked behind her to see who it was.

Savannah looked behind her just to see Adam standing behind her with his hand suspended in the air.

Adam gave a slight smirk before saying, " Scared? Time to go in, come on". Amanda was already halfway up the stairs when the two of them followed suit.

The stairway was so long that by the time they reached the building, She already started breathing heavily.

As soon as she pushed open the entrance door. She stared at the place in awe.

As soon as you enter, the first thing you'll see is the hallway with the lockers on both opposing walls. The lockers were coloured blue all through until you see a large stairway that divides itself into two. The walls are painted cream and the floor tiles, white.

The large stairway was coloured brown. Everything about the school made her feel welcomed.

As she pushed through the crowd of students, Savannah accidentally bumped into one student. A girl. She wore the complete school uniform and was tall, maybe a bit taller than Savannah.

While Savannah was observing the girl, she didn't realize that she had accidentally knocked down her books when they bumped into each other.

" Oh shoot. I didn't mean to knock down your books". Savannah said as she quickly began picking them up one by one.

"Oh no,it's okay", the girl said as she joined in in packing the books. Once they were done, they both got up to their feet."Are you a new student cause I'm not sure if I've met you before". The girl said after looking observing Savannah.

Savannah wasn't really concentrating because all she could think of was how beautiful the girl was after taking a good look at her face. She had fair skin and almond shaped eyes with small heart shaped lips. She also had really long black hair that she put up in a ponytail.

After realizing that the girl was talking to her, Savannah quickly snapped out of her daze, "Oh I didn't really get that, could you repeat yourself ?" Savannah asked as politely as she could, not trying to give the girl a bad impression of herself, and who knows, maybe they could even be in the same class.

"Are you a new student, I'm not sure I've seen you around here".

"Oh, actually -" Savannah was cut short by Adam who loudly called her name.

"Savannah!" Adam said as he stood patiently waiting for her to notice him, "what are you doing? Come on, let's go". Adam continued and without wasting anymore time, continued walking without waiting for her.

By that time, the girl already noted that she was in a hurry and was about to say something but Savannah cut her short.

"I've got to go, it was nice meeting you". Savannah said as she gave the girl her books and rushed to catch up with Adam. Since Adam wasn't too far away, it didn't take long for for her to catch up with him.

The both of them followed Amanda like a shadow until she arrived at a big room with an office table and stacks above stacks of paper and files. It looked like someone's office, maybe the principals.

Amanda and the two waited for a while before a middle aged average height man, probably in his late 40s, walked into the room.

As soon as Savannah saw him, she froze in her spot. While Amanda and Adam greeted him, she stood there still like a statue. It felt as though he was staring right into her soul.

He smiled warmly at them before saying, "Are they the two children here for the entrance exam?"

"Yes, they're here for the exam". Amanda said.

"Oh, wow. What's your name?" He said with a warm smile as he switched his attention from Amanda to Savannah.

For a while Savannah didn't speak. She was so distracted by her thoughts that she didn't pay attention to anything that was going on,

that was until her mother slightly pinched her in the arm. Involuntarily, she turned to look at her mother who ignored her and just kept smiling at the principal.

"Actually, she's really shy around new environment's", Amanda said as a cover up for Savannah's silence to the principal before turning to look at Savannah herself, "Come on, tell him your name". Amanda said with a look that Savannah knew to mean,' don't embarrass me'.

After taking a deep breath, Savannah said, "My name is Savannah". Just merely saying that short sentence made Savannah's heart was racing because she was holding her breath.

"What a beautiful name. What about you gentlemen". The principal said as he turned to look at Adam who was standing next to Savannah all quiet like.

"My name is Adam". Adam said.

"Oh, lovely. And since everyone has been introducing themselves, why not introduce myself as well. My name is Edward Jones, you can call me Principal Edward and I'll be the one monitoring the two of you while you write your exam". For a while the place was completely silent, you could almost hear a pin drop. That is until he led the two through a door that was right next to his table.

"So this is where the two of you would write your exam", he said as he pointed at two desks that were right Infront of another office table, "I'll hand the two of you your exam scripts but I want you to understand one thing. I do don't want to hear any whispersor side talk, or I'll take your exam scripts and the paper will be cancelled ".

Suddenly the atmospher of the room grew dense, as though the police were here to arrest someone. Both Adam and Savannah took their seats as well as the principal.

'Who knew the principal would be so strict and besides, I just knew something was up with him the second I laid eyes on him. And anyways, why would we even bother to cheat, it's not like as if we could, the desks are so far apart, we couldn't even if we wanted to'. Savannah thought to herself as the principal shared the scripts. He then went round and gave them their various writing materials before going back to his desk.

"Make sure to check the clock because once it's been 40 minutes, then I'm collecting your scripts". Principal Edward said before he continued with his work.

Savannah quickly looked flipped it to the first page. She skimmed through the page before picking up her pen.

Though the room was air conditioned and basically the perfect temperature to write an exam, Savannah was still sweating profusely. She was sure it wasn't because of the exam but because of the time that was left for her to finish the exam.

She quickly started answering the questions and put in enough thought before picking the answer. Once in a while she'd glance at the principal just to see whether he's keeping a close eye on them or not, then she'll take a quick glance at Adam and believe it or not, it seemed as though he was putting in more effort in the exam than her, 'Why won't he be more focused than me, he's literally writing an exam that's way harder than mine'. Savannah thought to herself before putting her focus back on the exam.

"15 minutes, you have 15 minutes left for the exam!" Principal Edward said out of the blue.

' Doesn't he have anything better to do'. Savannah thought to herself. It's not even been up to a day since she met him yet he's already on her 'bad list'. She quickly started answering the remaining questions because she didn't want to take any risks. She had only 5 more questions to answer before she'd be done with the exam.

Time went by faster than the wind and soon enough, the remaining 15 minutes were over. The principal got up from his seat and was approaching Savannah's desk to collect her paper when she dropped the pen on her table and slouched back on her chair, 'Thank God I finished the exam on time or else who knows what he would have done'. Savannah thought to herself as he quickly snatched the paper and left her desk.

After collecting both the papers, the principal stood at the center of the room and said, "Since the two of you have completed the exam, the results would be sent to your parents via email. We'd make sure to send the results to you before the end of the day. Good luck and have a nice day". The two of them tucked in their chairs before leaving the room...
