"So what now? You wanna give her out? Like sell her? For God's sake,what has the little girl done to you to derseve all your maltreatments? and oh my! Have you forgotten that she is the only family you have left?" Miss Mara my mom's friend came to visit, she was the only friend I knew my mom had, she visits often. Miss Mara enjoyed taking fruit juice, I had gone to get her favorite only to return hearing her say these things to mom, I stopped at the sittingroom's entrance eavesdropping without them noticing my presence.

"Please stop it Mara, you talk like you don't know my reasons, Lily has only brought so much misfortune to me, from the very first day I learnt I had conceived her. First, her heartless dad denied us, then my late mom's sister sent me packing and that delayed my admission into high school, I lost the job I got after two weeks cause I couldn't cope with the pregnancy. Passed through a lot, little me, during pregnancy, delivery and baby nursing. At least I should be married by now but when the men coming discover I already have a child, they flee. And every time I set my eyes on her I'm always reminded of all these and to worse it all she takes after her dad, looks so much like him.
