Lily's plight

Happy birthday to you

Happy birthday dear Lily

Happy birthday to you"

The lights came on, the couple sang to me, Mrs Vanessa was carrying a cake, and on the cake was written "happy birthday and welcome Lily".

I felt relived my tears turned to that of happiness, after the song the cake was dropped on the dinning table and I received hugs from my new parents. It was my first time celebrating my birthday with a cake, one of the days I can't forget. I explained the fears I had earlier and we laughed over it, they apologized too.

Dinner went down well, we chatted, the couple telling more about themselves and I too. They didn't stay a word about"my father".

"I will be registering you in a new school tomorrow" Mrs Vanessa said

"You've found a school already? Don't you think she should make her choice" Dad suggested

"Do you want to?" Mom asked

"Umm, since you've found one already, maybe I should check first, if I'm okay with it then no problem" I said making a yawn

"I think you need some rest dear, you can go to bed now"

"Yeah, you should, we have a lot for tommorow" Mrs Vanessa said exchanging a glance with Dad, I understood though

"Goodnight Dad, goodnight mom"

"Goodnight dear" they replied together.

I went back happily to my room, I was gonna sleep yet, I had to speak with Stanley and of course fill my diary.

"You will have to wait for a while your her test results will soon be out"

We first visited a hospital, my new parents told me they wanted to find out my blood group and genotype.

The results was soon out, as anybody would, I asked to view it, but they withheld it from me. I noticed that were kinda feeling un eased. " Maybe my thoughts are true".

Dad left from the hospital to his office, and mom drove me to school.

After dinner the same day, I requested for the result again.

"Mom, Dad, pls I want to see my results"

"Lily.." Mom was trying to say something

"Go get it darling, don't remove a thing" Dad said. "Are you sure about this?"
