Chapter 17 - Increasing Strength

Then, as days started to fly by, Darius and Ashe had gotten used to their routines which consisted of the same thing daily, killing monsters.

They wouldn't be doing anything else, they would wake up and go kill monsters. Well, Darius was the one doing that as Ashe was only making sure that he wouldn't be in any sort of danger.

The day after being stolen five years of her Lifespan, she had already begun to feel much better. She still wasn't at the peak of her form, but she didn't need to be inside of a D-Rank Danger.

The monsters which Darius had killed over the last three days were always the same. He killed goblins, wolves, and sometimes there were some bears.

However, the bears and the wolves were clearly modified genetically as they didn't look anything like they did back on Earth. In fact, they were much stronger than them as Darius who had awakened had some difficulty against them.

When he had made his first kill on a wolf, he discover that he had received double the amount of Life Essence for a goblin which probably meant that the wolves were stronger than the goblins.

Nonetheless, Darius hadn't seen much of a difference between a goblin and a wolf, but the difference between a goblin and a bear was massive.

It just wasn't comparable, Darius still didn't have too much difficulty against those animals as he would day by day keep getting stronger and at an incredible rate too.

He was getting stronger so fast that Ashe had difficulty believing that all of this was even possible. The feeble-looking Darius which she had found three days ago was nowhere to be found and was being replaced with one who already showed some muscles on his body.

Darius hadn't even trained his body some results were already showing, he had to admit that it was overpowered being awakened compared to a normal being.

He wished that he could've gotten such results in such a short amount of time in his past life too. However, that hadn't been the case as he had worked hard to get stronger.

The results of hunting in the last three days had been great as Darius had reached the 10 points in two aspects of his status which were Strength and Agility.

He could still remember how he had felt when reaching the 10th point.

*BEEP*

[You have absorbed the Life Essence of a goblin's body.]

[Do you want to use it to live longer or get stronger?]

Reading those two choices, Darius made his choice instantly not even thinking about it.

Well, it was normal to not think about it when you would only make the same choice over and over again. The choice of getting stronger.

Darius had opted for that option because of the five years of Lifespan that he had left. At the moment, Darius didn't feel the need to have more time in his Lifespan as he felt that it was more than enough.

'Well, only one point left until I reach the 10th,' thought Darius as he remembered that Ashe had said that every 10 points he would be noticing a change.

[One point of stats has been added to Strength.]

Darius wasn't surprised at all when reading this as he had figured out something not so long ago.

What he had figured out was that by killing a goblin he would be gaining a point in strength and when killing a wold he would be gaining two points in agility.

He didn't understand why, but he had just found out this information.

He, also, hadn't questioned Ashe about it as he knew that there was little chance that she knew about something like that.

There was also another reason why he hadn't asked about it.

That reason was that the atmosphere between the two of them wasn't the same as before because of the [Life Steal] that Darius had done.

Then, he dismissed those thoughts as felt some energy inside his body coursing through his entire body at quite a rapid rate.

In a matter of seconds, that energy which he was feeling had spread to the entirety of his body and he had to admit that it didn't feel bad.

In fact, he was feeling great. He felt rejuvenated, he could feel himself being stronger than before as he glanced at his biceps which were now visible.

He felt invincible as if nothing could stop him.

Ashe who noticed that Darius was observing his own body could already guess what was happening as a small smile showed on her face.

"Did you reach the 10th point in one of the possible aspects?" she asked, kind of already knowing the answer.

Darius nodded repeatedly showing his excitement over this whole ordeal. He had to admit that he didn't miss Earth at all right now.

He had gotten so many opportunities in this second life of his that he was being grateful to have gotten one.

'Thank you God or whoever reincarnated me into this body,' thought Darius looking at the sky.

He knew that this was an incredible chance for him and he would make sure to grasp it with both hands wholeheartedly not letting it go no matter what.

Then, the energy which had been coursing his body for the past seconds disappeared and Darius's new found confidence disappeared with it as he realized that maybe he wasn't as strong as he had thought.

Darius had no idea what that energy was, but he had to admit that it was addicting as he already wanted to feel it once again.

"Ashe, let's go find a wolf or two," exclaimed Darius almost giving an order as he saw that Ashe had started moving in some unknown direction.

Darius caught sight of that blindly following her as he knew that she was guiding him exactly to the monsters which he had asked to see.

He needed to reach his 10th point in Agility, after all.
