Ch-24: Spirit Stairs(4)

Suddenly, the crystal glass-like transparent stairs started to glow in a milky white hue, startling the other Elders who were watching in a daze.

"Sect Master, I will go and bring Disciple Bai Chenyu back," Elder Zhu said in a serious voice. He didn't know what was happening but judged it was better to bring back Bai Chenyu, who was floating.

"Don't," Mo Xiao's voice rang out, startling Elder Zhu.

"Sect master?" Elder Zhu looked at Mo Xiao in confusion.

"I do not sense any ill or malicious intent, so don't go and watch. I think it might be beneficial for Chenyu. Look, he does not look panicked or frightened one bit," Mo Xiao said, pointing at Bai Chenyu. The Elders followed his direction and saw there was no trace of worry on Bai Chenyu's face, so they reluctantly stayed in their places.

The milky radiance got even brighter, and the stairs suddenly started to separate one by one, floating in the air.

"Sect Master, just what is happening?" Elder Lei asked, with a frown on her beautiful face.

"Hmm, this is the first time I am seeing this. It might be something related to the last stair," Mo Xiao said, admitting that he wouldn't know, as even the founder himself did not reach the last floor

After all the stairs started floating, they lined up in an orderly fashion. In the next moment, they all flew in front of Bai Chenyu, just a couple of meters away from him, forming a circle that started to rotate vigorously.

As the circle kept rotating, it began to produce red sparks resembling lightning. The glass stairs transformed into stairs made out of blood, and blood started pouring from the circle, shocking the onlookers who had never seen such a phenomenon in their lives.

Bai Chenyu, watching the unfolding situation, furrowed his brow and observed something forming inside the circle.

"Hmm, a bead?" Bai Chenyu mumbled when he saw a red bead covered in blood and red lightning. After the red bead was formed, the glass stairs, which had turned red, returned to their original glass appearance. They flew back and reformed the staircase, leaving Bai Chenyu and the bead floating in mid-air.

"Huh, what the heck just happened?" Elder Ping asked in a daze.

"Eh, is that a bead?" Elder Lei asked in an incredulous voice.

"Seems so," Elder Zhu replied as he eyed the bead in front of Bai Chenyu.

"All that exaggerated scene just for a bead?" Elder Huang said in a weird tone when he saw the bead appear out of the circle.

"Hmm, it should not be some kind of ordinary bead. Don't you people sense the extraordinary power hidden inside it?" Mo Xiao said to the elders and hurriedly probed the bead.

"Hmm, it does seem like it's not ordinary," Elder Lei said.

"What's going to happen now? I thought Disciple Bai Chenyu would get some heaven-defying technique, but I did not expect him to get an item," Elder Huang said in a weird voice, not expecting an item to appear in the technique hall.

"Huh, what's happening now?" Elder Zhu exclaimed when he saw the bead disperse and transform into a beam of red light, which started to fly around Bai Chenyu.

Everyone watched as Bai Chenyu landed on the ground. As soon as he touched down, the beam of red light flew towards him at an alarming rate.

"Huh?" Bai Chenyu's eyes widened in surprise, and he was about to dodge, but the system's sound rang in his ear.

Bai Chenyu saw the notification and let the light hit him. He observed his body covered in red light, slowly fusing with his form, which left him shocked.

"Hmm, the name is not visible," Bai Chenyu said when he saw the question marks.

"Chenyu, are you alright? Do you feel weird or something?" Bai Chenyu looked at the group of elders and masters arriving in front of him with worry and curiosity.

"Hmm, no, I feel completely fine," Bai Chenyu replied, causing them to breathe a sigh of relief as they didn't want to lose such an extremely talented disciple.

"Do you know what that was?" Mo Xiao asked curiously. He thought maybe Bai Chenyu would know what the bead was.

"I have no idea, Master," Bai Chenyu replied. Even if he knew, he would not reveal it because he had to explain how he knew and would have to disclose the system, which he was not willing to reveal.

"By the way, did you receive any technique?" Elder Huang asked in a weird voice, as this was the technique hall. If Bai Chenyu had not received one, it would be pretty awkward; that was the whole reason the disciples came here.

"Technique, you say?" Bai Chenyu finally remembered the whole reason he came here, which he had forgotten. Now that he did not know what the bead was, he closed his eyes to check if there was any technique he received. To his surprise, he did indeed receive a technique, and to his surprise, he did not need to comprehend it, as it was directly engraved in his brain.
