Chapter 20: Kyokusei Dormitory

After passing, Soren and his partner cleaned up their station, and were free to go, but Soren stayed behind, as he wanted to observe the rest of the class, and just like the Anime, Soma's partner left their food unsupervised and the team next to them decided to ruin their food by dumping loads of salt into the pot.

'These scum… I'm glad they got kicked out after fumbling around with their meal and ruining it': soren

Soren then watched as Soma noticed the suspicious activity, and pointed it out before going to get the backup ingredients, and began taking things seriously, as he tied his white headband around his forehead and began cooking, while the blue haired girl began freaking out, as they only had around 30 minutes left, and she thought that there was nothing they could do in that time to get the meat ready, but Soma had already come up with a solution, as he used honey to tenderize the meat as well. And after almost 30 minutes, Soma had finished the dish, and began taking it up to Chef Chappelle for grading, and while everyone thought that they would get a failing grade, they were all surprised that Chef Chappelle gave them an A, as well as the same encouraging words that he gave to Soren, and just like the Anime, the two kids who messed with Soma's dish, ruined their own dish, and got an E.

[Way to go Soma… And I thought I was the only one who knew about speeding up the tenderization process with honey as a substitute for pineapple juice]: soren

Soren had used the knowledge from both his experience from the Chef God, as well as the knowledge of this fact from the Anime, and when Soren explained how he knew about it, Soma was surprised, but then it clicked in his head as to how Soren had finished so quickly.

[Yeah… It was all thanks to the cook books I read when I was little… So, do you want to set a time for a cook off?]: soma

[Maybe later… But for now, I need to go pick up some stuff from the supermarket nearby]: soren

The school had a supermarket built in the school grounds so that students could buy the materials needed to cook, so Soren decided to go get some stuff for later, as he had noticed that his dormitory was Kyokusei, meaning he would need to cook for her if he wanted to join them.

As Soren was about to leave, the girl with blue hair had interrupted them

[Soma, is this your friend? He was also one of the transfer students in the morning's opening ceremony… Soren, was it?]: ???

[Yes, my name is Soren Langston… Can I have the pleasure of knowing your name?]: soren

Soren had known her name, but he wanted to hear it from her.

[Oh!... Right, my name is Megumi Tadokoro… I, like you guys, grew up in my mother's diner where I learned to cook, and then I came here to grow on my own so that I can make my hometown proud]: megumi

As Soren began to start walking away, Soma had an idea and stopped him.

[Hey, Soren!... I got this new dish that I made, and I was wondering if you wanted to try it… Megumi, you can try it too]: soma

As Soma spoke, Megumi seemed excited, while Soren realized that he screwed himself big time by staying longer than he needed, and then they both replied.

[Sure!]: soren and megumi

Soma then opened a bento, and with a pair of chopstick, he took a piece of squid that had been covered in honey and stuffed it into Soren's mouth first, while quickly putting one into Megumi's mouth while an evil smile covered his face while his eyes appeared to be glowing red like the devil. Megumi seemed to be repulsed by the flavor, while Soren felt it wasn't that bad, but it was still disgusting, but it didn't end there as Soma began making the two of them try the other concoctions of squid and sweets. Even though Soren could have left at any time, he decided to pull through, as trial and error was a big thing to a chef, and if Soren tasted these things now, he would know never to try making them himself in the future. After the taste testing was over, Soren washed his mouth out with water, before he went to the supermarket and picked up some items before he began walking towards the Kyokusei dormitory, and upon reaching his destination, Soren looked at the ghastly building while thinking it was a horror house waiting to kill any kid that enters.

[Guess this is the place]: soren

Soren then walked into the dorm, and quickly met with the dorm mother Fumio, or Dorm Mother of Kyokusei.

[Hello, I am the dorm mother for Kyokusei, aka Fumio-san, the "Holy Mother of Kyokusei… Now if you wish to stay here, you shall cook for me with some ingredients you have prepared]: fumio

Soren then followed her to the kitchen and whipped up a simple fried rice dish, but anything made by Soren is never simple, as when Fumio took a bite, her heart began to beat harder, as her face began to redden from her blush, and she quickly tried to attack Soren, while she was making kissy faces towards him, making him want to gag and throw up all the squid he tasted just a few hours prior to this encounter.

[Uhh… I'm sorry, but I'm not into grannys]: soren

When Soren said this, Fumio snapped back to herself, and quickly cleared her throat as she straightened herself up, and spoke.

[Ahem… You pass… Your room will be room 214… Actually, do you have a younger brother?]: fumio

[Yes, his name is Kouki, is he also a resident of this dorm?]: soren

[Yes, he had just came by a few hours ago, and he has room number 215]: fumio

'So it seems that the old man is trying to build Polar Star back up to its previous glory… that cheeky bastard': soren

Soren then took his room key, and went up to his room to put his things down, before taking a tour of the place, and along the way, Soren met with Megumi who was also touring around, and when she saw him, she was quite surprised, as she spoke.

[So we are in the same dormitory… Seems that we will be closer than I thought]: megumi

When Soren heard Megumi's words, he felt that it was a perfect time to tease her, as he spoke.

[So you thought about being close with me?... Hmm… Too bad I already have a girlfriend… Ahh, but I guess I can add another one to make a harem hehe]: soren

As Soren spoke, the smile on his face was evident, while Megumi's face turned beet red, as steam seemed to come out of her ears, making Soren laugh his ass off, before Megumi ran away from him.

[Such an innocent girl… Maybe when she's a little older I'll ask her out, that is if Kouki doesn't take a liking to her first]: soren

As Soren spoke, he continued exploring the dorm while he was secretly being watched from the roofing panels, by an almost naked man with pinkish blonde hair. Soon, a few hours passed, and Soren noticed the time, as he was expecting Soma to show up soon, while he met with Kouki, and they began talking about their classes, and about what they made.

[Anyway, I'm gonna go take a bath… Cya in a bit]: soren

Soren then began heading towards the bath, while not really paying attention to the time, and then he began opening the bathroom door in a completely naked state, only to have his vision filled with the sight of Soma standing butt naked in front of him, while Megumi was cowering in the tub.

'What the fuck did I just walk into?': soren

Soren was completely shocked, as he couldn't be any worse with the timing, and since he had yet to use any of his supernatural powers aside from using his experiences to cook, Soren had never sent out his senses to scan for anyone. Soren was quickly noticed by both Soma and Megumi, as they turned to look at him, while Megumi couldn't help but look down as his massive package hanging between his legs. So to make everything seem less awkward, Soren spoke a casual sentence, while trying to ease the mood.

[You guys come here often?]: soren

Soma seemed unfazed, while Megumi finally let out a blood curdling scream, as she quickly tried to hide everything of hers from the view of both Soren and Soma, while Soma thought Soren's casual comment was quite funny. Both Soren and Soma made a quick exit while still being completely nude, as they gave Megumi some time to get into a decent attire, and after a few minutes, Megumi came out of the bathroom with a completely red face, and when she saw both Soren and Soma standing there still naked, her blush only got brighter as she screamed again, as she ran off leaving both Soma and Soren to raise their shoulders in confusion.

[So… Who gets to take a bath first?]: soma

[Rock, Paper, Scissors, to decide who goes next?]: soren

[I'm down!]: soma

Soma and Soren then began playing Rock, Paper, Scissors, to decide who would use the bathroom next, but the only problem with what they were doing was that they were both still nude.

[Damn!... I lost!]: soren

[Haha!... Don't worry, I'll be quick, and then you can take a bath]: soma

Soma then entered the bath, leaving Soren to stand there in the nude, as he looked gloomy over the fact that he lost. He, a literal GOD, had lost in a Rock, Paper, Scissors, match, and this loss made Soren feel sour, as he wasn't using any kind of advantage over Soma, as he could easily win if he were to actually use his power to make things seem slower, then he could see what Soma was going to throw and win with a counter, but Soren didn't want to cheat.

[Hais… I guess I should go apologize to Megumi while I wait… But I think I should get dressed first]: soren

Soren went and apologized to Megumi, and afterwards, he went and took a bath before heading back to his room to sleep, but before he could lay down, one of the panels on his ceiling opened up to reveal a man with pinkish blonde hair, wearing a white button up shirt, and a pink apron, as well as a white chef's hat.

[Hello, young transfer student!]: ???

[So who are you, and why are you in my room?]: soren

Soren once again knew who the man was, but he wanted to learn it from their mouths, as it would be suspicious to know everyone's names, so Soren decided to learn them all from the people themselves.

[My name's Isshiki Satoshi, but you can just call me Isshiki… Come on, there's a welcoming party being held in room 205]: isshiki

Isshiki gave Soren a heartfelt smile, while slowly putting the panel to the room of Soren's room back, and soon, Soren made it over to room 205 where he saw Kouki, Soma, and Megumi, as well as the rest of the cast, being Shoji, Ryoko, Yuki, Zenji, the owner of room 205, Shun, and Daigo. With this, everyone of Kyokusei was present, except for Isshiki, as he was doing something at the moment.

[Seems like a lively bunch… This should be fun]: soren

Soren entered the room, and quickly found a seat on the ground, while Zenji was complaining about using his room for the party, making everyone laugh and giggle, while he wasn't laughing. As Soren made himself known to the group, everyone began to welcome him with cheer, while Zenji was upset that another person had shown up, and when Soren saw everyone laughing, it brought a smile to his face, while a girl with long maroon hair color, wearing a light purple pajama shirt, with a black V neck T-shirt underneath, and a pair of light blue jean pants, had offer a drink to Soren in a paper cup.

[Here… Uhh, Soren, was it?... You want something to drink?]: ???

[Yeah, thanks… Uh?]: soren

[Ryoko… My name's Ryoko]: ryoko

Ryoko spoke while Soren began drinking the cloudy liquid without question, as he already knew what it was, and as the night went by, Soren learned all the names of everyone, while also partying, and playing card games. Soon, Fumio had called through the weird pipe system that looks like an odd kind of cup phone, as it was made of brass, and there was no string, rather long tubes connecting to Fumio's room where she can converse with everyone, and inform them when food was ready. And just like that, the night continued on as the drinks kept coming, and the food kept being served, while Soren, Kouki, and Soma learned about the Council of 10, and after Isshiki joined in the party, things began getting good, as the group began making and showing off their foods, while Soma brought out the squid making both Soren and Megumi shudder in disgust.

[So we're cooking huh?]: kouki

Kouki then broke out some ingredients as he began cooking up some fried rice for everyone, and then everyone began cooking their own foods to share.

'Should I make something?... Maybe later… I wanna challenge Isshiki': soren

Soon, everyone fell asleep, while Soren, Soma, and Isshiki were still awake and talking with each other, until Isshiki decided to challenge Soma, while Soren also wanted in on the battle, and the 3 of them decided to have a 3 way cook off.

[I can't wait to see who's food is better… Haha! Looks like our battle is unavoidable, Soren!]: soma
