Surrender (II)

After I surrendered we sat in the inn. We didn't talk, we just sat there in the peaceful silence completely forgetting about the previous conversation. I looked at my right wrist that now bears a new bracelet. It did not seal my magic but rather it tracked me. So it is not really a hindrance to me at the moment. 

I turn to Jas only to see him looking at me. 

"Want to go shopping?" I asked with a smile, wanting to get out of our awkward state. 

He looked at me and then nodded. I don't know what he sees but he knows from my face if I am telling the truth or lies, it's how it's been since we were young. 

We stood and descended to the market just wandering aimlessly giving ourselves time. We go to one shop, look at things and then come back out. As we walked I saw a pocket watch and my feets halted. 

Jasper, who was walking just inches behind me, stopped and asked "What's wrong?". Following the direction of my sight he turned towards the same watch. He looked at my face and out of nowhere he rushed into the shop and after a few minutes passed by came back to me.

He stood in front of me and I stared at him. His body moved towards me a little and he bent down towards my waist. He took my watch out and replaced it with a new one. He took my old one and wore it himself. 

'But I wanted this watch for you.' 

Before I could explain my reasons for looking and wanting the watch he smiled and dragged me towards the restaurant.

After we finished out our lunch we walked the streets back to the inn. As we were walking someone came from behind me and grabbed my hands. I was pulled back. I turned immediately and steadied myself. 

I looked at the person who pulled me. I looked a little downwards and saw our petite informat looking at me with smiles. 

"Leia, you shouldn't be doing this kind of thing to Kaan." Jasper said in a scolding manner as he made Leia release my arm. 

"Kaan? not My lord? what's gotten into you." Leia blunted out in confusion. 

"I was forc-" I cut Jasper and asked Leia "Are you ok? you got caught by Sky." 

"Ahh! yes all good. I heard from Lin that you are here so I came by and also I have a meeting with a broker so it's killing two birds with one stone." 

'So that's why she is here. According to plan I see.' 

She came to me and I bent down a little. She said the following in my ears "Check the book whenever you get the chance."

I nodded and Leia waved us goodbye. 

After she was away from ear shot Jas said "let's follow her." I did not have much choice as he grabbed me and dragged me away.

'Let's let them do what they want for a while because no matter what they have to listen to me in the end.'

Leia entered a back alley and we followed some distance behind. As we turned a corner Leia suddenly disappeared from my sight. I was about to run towards where she was but Jas grabbed me and placed his hands on my mouth.

At that moment someone entered through a door next to the corner. Jas let me go and we snicked our way towards the door. There was a small vent at the bottom of the room. We looked inside and we could see the whole room. 

The door led to a room that was half underground. We saw Leia greet the broker and they both started talking. 

The voice was not clear but what I heard was so unexpected that I went completely motionless.

"Madam, it's as you suspected. There is a new organization that is competing with Brightfall."

"Oh What's the name of this said organization?" 

We could not see them properly but their voices sounded very stiff.

"The name is 'Darkrise' . They had recently emerged and caused a lot of trouble with us. Their motto seems to have something to do with heaven and hell. It is rumored that their leader is a half crazy genius who could control the dead." the broker said in a nervous voice. 

'...control the dead...darkrise.....dame it'

Jasper's tap took me out of my thoughts. I grabbed his hands and rushed back to the inn.

'Now everything makes sense. Leia will probably give me all the details though honor of sins but at the moment I have to check something. And if what I think is true then the apocalypse is near. And this war will just be the start.' 

"Kaan what's wrong." Jas asked in a worried tone.

"Can't explain this now, but let me tell you if you find anything unusual in the nature of anything please inform it to me immediately. Also lay the same message to Sky and distribute this command to all the brightfall."

I let go of Jas and turned to him and continued "I will be going to some places so inform this to Sky as well and tell her to come to the Mabuz manor. Meet at your house now go."

"Yes My lord." He bowed and left. I entered the inn and entered the room. I set up a teleportation circle and teleported to the underground, Nightflags guilt, Leia's office. 

I walked over a bookshelf. The employees left me alone and completely ignored and so did I. I pulled a book out and turned the pages until I reached the one I was searching for. 

"Unsolved cases of Brightfall.

Case --, date: day 21 of 245 phoenix year. 

Unidentified death of the Ebba Nagib officer of finance and Tlalli Jeremiel secondary officer of information finance. 

Reason of death: Unknown.

Symptoms: A black choking mark on the neck but the death was not caused by choking or suffocating. 

Status: Unsolved."

'That time I was busy with another matter at the magic tower so I didn't pay much attention to it. But that could be the start of their interference. But I can't be so sure. Hmmm I should check the church and the grimoire of origines to confirm this situation.'

I placed the book and walked out the office and headed to the church of hope.

'I don't want this world to end like all the others before I arrived.'
