Noble Meeting (III)

"..."

The silence was loud, only the regular sound of breathing was heard. This was the cause of my plan that I have explained to all of them.

"Then if you understand your part I will leave everything to you all." I say as I stand from the seat and turn towards the door.

"Duke" I hear Caleb call me. I turn and tip my chin to him, allowing him to speak.

"I understand the plan very well but I want to ask you, what is the backup plan if by chance something goes wrong."

I rubbed my chin and then smirked and said "we will just run amok if that happens."

Everyone's expression turned dumbfounded and I exited the room, forgetting that I was in someone else's house. As I came out Barman greeted me. I walked the same path we came from. I hear hurried footsteps behind me and hear Lazaro call out to me.

"Kaan."

I just turned around and faced him.

"Are you sure about this? You will be the king's target."

I chuckled hearing that question.

"Like I was not his target since the start."

He just stares at me with concern and worry. I pursed my lips and held Lazaro's right shoulder with a firm grip so he knew that I am here and that he should not worry. He instantly took my hand in his and looked deep in my eyes and said "If only we could protect you from the beginning this would have not happened."

"..." I was momentarily silenced. I opened my mouth to speak but he held his finger up and said "don't worry about us and do what you have to do. I know you have a lot of places to be so we won't keep you long."

I could only flash him a wryly smile before I turned and left the place as quietly as I came.

"Where are we heading next sir." Barman asked me.

"Alvala." I replied in a stern voice.

***

"Lady Cordilla, what are your thoughts on this matter and lords plan." Caleb asked in a voice that contained curiosity and wisdom.

'Well the plan itself is not bad and can help all of the Ravial very much, but it does not look like it was made with the understatement of his own situation in the noble circuit.' I inhaled a breath and then released a sigh.

'You are truly a troublemaker just like your father Kaan.'

I opened my mouth and explained what I think about Kaan's plan. "The plan itself is fine but it does have a lot of risky elements, but all of those risks are going to be burdened by Kaan so we can be free of any problems. All we have to do to support him is fulfill our tasks, like we always have."

"Both Armando and Kaan are similar, making all those around them dance on their little puppet strings." Gavin said with a click of his tongue.

"Aspen, what is your opinion?" I asked the silent viscount.

"I have no opinion really because if he is doing something there has to be a deeper meaning to it." Aspen replied.

'Well Aspen was Kaan's friend so that is that.'

I heard the door behind me open and saw Lazaro coming in. I turn to the magic screen and say "then I wish us all the best and have a good night."

All three nodded and the screen went black before the contact ball became clear. By then Lazaro had already come to me and had hugged me from behind.

I took in the embrace and we just stood there in silence for some time. Readying ourselves for what is about to come next.

***

"Honestly Skyler, I just want to help people." Eric Vermilion said as we walked in the frost castle.

"That's hard to believe because you just confessed to have murdered three people." I say in a sarcastic tone.

"They deserved it." he replied with a puff.

"They pissed you off."

"They insulted my height hence they deserve it. Bullying is not ok."

I sigh and continue walking because I don't want to waste time talking to a complete psychopath from the vampire assassin household called the Vermilions. Eric was my cousin since my father belonged to that household but since I lived with my mother all this time I had adopted her surname instead.

He suddenly dashed a little ahead of me and turned to face me. His red eyes glaring at me and his platinum hair shining in the moonlight.

"Skyler, this war will happen regardless of what you do, so as your dear brother I am telling you to be carefull and to not get in our way."

I frowned but before my words came out he had already turned into a bat and left the castle leaving me alone. I shook my head and walked to my room. Watching the beautiful moon.

'I truly wonder what would happen if you had taken a different path and been a little selfish with yourself Kaan. Do you even need us huh? Do you view us as equals or do you view us as something that is weak and meant to be protected? Just come back already.'

My finger dug into my palms but no blood came. It's the curse of the moon on the vampires.

'thou shouldst not bleed or hast a beating heart as they choose immortality. It truly is as the ancient tales say, we don't need those things because we attain something very great but in the end it's named as a curse not a blessing.'

I entered my room that was half filled with papers and other necessary stuff. But this was nothing compared to my office which was a complete mess.

'I really need to clean.'

My senses tingled as I looked at the contact ball in my room shine. 'Jasper?'

I went and turned the thing on and Jasper's face came to view.

"How did it go?" I ask nonchalantly because from the look of grimace on his face, Kaan had slipped away from his hands again.

"Don't joke." He said sternly and turned serious and he continued, "We will have to speed up Sky."

I nodded as all the things we discussed came to view.

'You will soon have no way to run Kaan.'
