Masquerade ball

"Now part two of the plan: meet Remus. And to do that I will have to go to young marquis Cabot's birthday masquerade ball." 

I look around the market street of the Cabot territory. After coming back from the Great coral reef the Cabot territory was my next stop. I looked around some more and then found the perfect shop to get myself dressed. 

I walked inside and asked the owner to style me up. He gladly agreed and I walked out of the shop in a few minutes wearing a plain shirt and buttoned it up fully to support the elegant lavender tie. On top of the shirt I am wearing a sleek vest with 3 buttons, it has a deep v-line, which causes the vest to remain hidden when the suit's jacket is buttoned up.

The lavender jacket perfectly wraps around my body. It has a simple, but elegant blanket plaid pattern, giving the suit a dignified and elegant look. The 5 buttons of his double breasted jacket are all buttoned up with the exception of one, a playful touch to a classy look.

The jacket is longer at the back, it has a vent at the back, there are two pockets on one side and one pocket on the other and there's a breast pocket which contains a stylish pocket square.

With that I'm wearing pants which copy the style of the jacket, both in color and pattern and they perfectly complement with my shoes. 

To top it all off I wore a brooch and cufflinks. With that a lavender cloth was connected to the left side of the jacket to give it a more noble look. I took a white fox mask and placed it on my face and walked into an alley nearby. 

Before leaving I had already informed Millard to send me the invitation to the ball directly to me so all I have to do is get inside with it.

Somehow I entered without anyone noticing anything unusual about me. 'Now all I have to do is find Remus and talk to him about the plan and make sure he can influence the king to some extent.' 

I made my gaze sharp to notice anything that resembled him in the slightest. My search was not long as I saw him talk to some nobles. He was wearing a golden peacock mask that matched his hair almost combining into one. 

'Found you little brother.' 

I make long strides towards him and pat him on the shoulder. He excuses the noble and turns towards me.

"Yes?"

"Change of plans I need to talk to you." I say without missing a beat.

His eyes widen and he replies in shock "Big brother?!"

"Not so loud now, come here." I say and grab his arms, dragging him towards a corner where we can talk.

"Brother what is going on. I heard you ran away from the party at the royal palace and that after that no one could find you and also about how there is going to be a war that is subjected to you." He asked in a fit of hurry and worry.

"Calm down and yes since you already know the jist of it here is the revised plan." I say calming him down. I picked up the champagne from the table and handed it to him and took one for myself to look normal. He did not question me and just stayed quiet but he was showing some signs of worry for some reason. 

"Ok so first I have already talked with our fiction. They will assist you and make sure you will be on the war strategizing team. Then as we strategize I will lead the conversation and make it so that you will be the one to lead the war." I will explain.

He looked at me with horror and asked "Why me?"

"You are the crown prince who else will do it idiot." 

"Huuu I hate my position."

"Stop sulking, as I was saying after that since I have to stay in the shadows to assist both Brightfall and Ravial, I will give orders as per the normal route. This will make sure that both sides don't hurt each other badly and in the end the result could easily be controlled."

"Ok but what if it fails?"

"Then it's a pure choes that I will create and solve." 

"Wow..." He said in sarcasm but then he suddenly froze. 

"What's wrong-" before I could finish he took my glass, placed it on the table and dragged me toward the garden. As we were moving I heard footsteps behind me. 

"It's Jasper." He said in a hurry.

"He was invited?" 

"He is a hero of course he is invited." 

We arrived in the garden and as we stopped and turned we saw a man wearing a full black outfit with a black swan mask in front of us. 

"Thanks Remus and remember the plan." I said and I used my mana and teleported back to the inn in Alvala. 

"Huuu..." I sigh and walk inside the inn. I saw Lin at the reception. As he saw me he stood up and said "welcome sir."

I took my mask off and said "room for the night please." 

"Right away." he shuffled his hands quickly and gave me a key but as I was about to give him the money he said "don't worry my lord it's on the house." 

I nodded at him and went to my room. As I entered I locked the door and dumped the mask on the table and I flopped on the bed not caring about my newly bought clothes. 

"I miss my controlled and carefree life back in heaven huuuuu." I thought to myself almost losing my shit to not die at the moment. It was so easy to stay under the wing of someone, all you have to do is follow the orders and have no responsibility. If you do a good job you even receive a reward. Whoever said freedom was better should just suck it up and admit that they are truly never free.
