A Letter from a Black Bird

Dear Osiris,

The white bird hurt my eyes, so I got rid of it. I wonder if you liked it that much, you'll be sad to see I sent it away. It'll have a better life now, somewhere else... This black bird is less of an eyesore than that white one.

Thank you for worrying about me. I'll try to sleep, but I wonder if I will be able to. And, are you pretending to be ignorant, or truly are? My assignment today was to blackmail the Sterin family as Lord Nico. He, like Elizabeth, was quite an easy character to pull off. If I was to be somebody more complex, perhaps it would be harder.

Those women are truly dense, as you said. If I were to get married, I would marry an altruistic but sensible woman. Although, blackmailing him may not be as easy as Mother initially thought since the women still recklessly defend him. I suppose they'll come to their senses eventually. Maybe I need to do more probing.

I feel like the puppet is the antithesis of my annex, much like the bird. It is too... similar to the queen. It's cold stare and antediluvian clothes make me feel uneasy. Its skin is pale too, too sickly. I feel like its black hair is getting lighter, it looks brown now. I suppose when it smiles, it'll light up the entire room. After a frozen body comes in touch with warmth, it'll shrink back and shake in fear, but still long for more. I don't wish to have those feelings.

I have already received a report on Elizabeth Marion's death. The public seems quite fooled. It will be hard to pull off something this big though, but like how the commoners say it, if tricks and lies don't work, just bullshit your way through. Anything apocryphal will turn into facts when spoken from the mouth of a rich man with a sword, much less a puppeteer of the whole kingdom.

Honestly, Mother's plan is rather amorphous right now. As I have said before, Lady Marion's death this time will be completely staged, from start to finish, except perhaps the state of her body. I know for a fact Lord Tarnin didn't kill her, nor did any other suspects the public point to. Nobody will even raise their shaking hand to point toward you, my dear brother.

Her body was found with many cuts, as if from an intermediate swordsman. Many witnesses will have recalled that Lord Tarnin was the last to converse with Elizabeth before her sudden disappearance. His reason for the murder is still unclear now, but they recently broke up, and afterward, she seems to have shown interest in the crowned prince. (and he seems to have liked her back~~~)

My artifice is not easy to spot, I can mask my personality very well, but too much sabotaging would induce suspicion. It's like I'm a director, watching a show, thinking about what I can tweak, and you are one of the many actors. I'm curious how this show will play out.

Your brother,

Easter.
