Additionally, she was a bit afraid—afraid of the challenges of raising a daughter. Maris had known her own mother, but her mother had died before Maris turned seven. That was 23 years ago, and over time, Maris had forgotten much about what it was like to be nurtured by a mother.
Now 30 years old, Maris still looked like she was 20. It was a benefit of her power. However, with her abilities sealed, she knew she would age naturally from this point forward. She didn't mind it at all.
She even got a job at the same place as Lucan.
